New ban tools might be available for Nintendo & developers

If you visit https://bmas.mng.nintendo.net (something called a "Ban MAnagement System"), you'll find a notice that BMAS has been discontinued and to use a new, upgraded version instead.

Of course, I do not have the account required to log in to those panels so I can't say what changed (except the removal of 3DS/WiiU tools like stated), but Nintendo might now have updated tools to detect and ban consoles.

This wasn't there before the Nintendo Network shut down, so it's a relatively new thing.

It's not. That's not what it means.

BMAS is a tool for third party developers to ban users from their games, it has nothing to do with console bans.
