I've been doing a lot of gaming/anime watching lately, and I figured I might as well share my thoughts on 2 things I finished lately.
First off, I finished "I Am Legend" (the book) yesterday. I checked it out from the public library a couple weeks ago, but completely forgot about it. I went online to check when it was due, and I found out that it was due really soon... so basically I marathoned it yesterday. It was actually REALLY good. I enjoyed it a lot. I thought it would be a lot like the movie, but they are pretty much nothing alike. The movie took a lot of liberties... in fact, there aren't really any similarities other than the main character's name and the fact that he is struggling to survive against these zombie-vampire hybrids. The book was so much better than the movie, though. There was a great amount of development which really makes the reader grow attached to the story. You want to keep reading to find out how the main character solves his problems and survives. In the movie, the main character was "spoiled" in a sense. He already knew the enemy's weaknesses, had a lab in his own home, etc. In the book, you pretty much see how the main character slowly figures out how the vampires work. He uses logic to try to make sense of their weaknesses and discover a possible cure for the virus.
tl;dr: The book is way better than the movie. If you liked the I Am Legend movie, then do yourself a favor and check out the book.
The next thing I finished recently (today actually) was Toradora! (anime) At first, I was a little reluctant to try it out, but it turned out to be really good. It is pretty generic in some parts, but I really did like the characters and the story, and it was pretty funny as well. Taiga's (the main girl character) tsundere personality pissed me off, but the anime had some surprisingly deep parts which I really enjoyed. For some reason, this anime gets a lot of crap from people, which I honestly cannot understand. Anyway, I gave this anime a 9/10, because I thoroughly enjoyed the story and (most of) the characters, and it was pretty funny. It was also very heart-warming, and there were several serious parts which made me baaawwww a bit. Definitely gonna miss it, but now I can focus on playing some Xbox 360 games.
