Afraid of heights?

So I have decided to relocate to Mexico and start a new life there, I won't be heading there so soon.
I plan on joining the military and transferring over to special forces.

The one thing that becomes a problem is that in every division of the special forces whether it may be Airmobile Special Forces, Airmobile High Command Special Forces or Amphibious Special Forces. They all require me to jump out of an airplane!

I am really terrified of heights, don't let me get started on roller-coasters. lol

So now I'm deciding to go along with the Special Forces idea or to go on becoming a Federal Police (equivalent to SWAT) which is fine.

Anyhow are U afraid of heights?
Wow, so many people afraid of heights? I've never had that problem. Like OSW says, if you think logically about how safe the situation you're in is, there's no reason to be afraid.
Not that there are too many heights in the Netherlands to be scared by ;)

While I never went in for it as much as I might climbing is a pastime I enjoy and equally I find myself running up and down scaffolding/abandoned buildings often enough.

The only bad experience I had with heights is probably when I was about 7 and the school had a 2 story climbing frame.

2 crash mats, 1 rung, 2 rungs, 3 rungs and so on. While I had just about accounted for forward motion I had not properly accounted for bouncing. Wow did my tailbone hurt that night.

I am beyond terrified by heights! I hate being on top floor of a building the most, I can't even get near a window without freaking out.

I have like an 'inverse-fear-of-heights'. When I walk inside a church with a high and great dome and I look up, my legs began shaking just the same as when I look down for -let's say- a 20 story building. Or like when I ride on one of those external all made of glass elevators.

Strange.

I'm not afraid of heights. I actually like it to be higher up then ground level once in a while. Like climbing a really high mountain. I've been above 3000meters once, and I liked it. Also stood on the roof of a pretty high building (6-7 stories, something like that) and loved it.

I don't like rollercoasters though. They're to out of control for me.

I meant something like that ^^^^^

I'm fine with heights. Sometimes I'm actually more worried about the stuff in my pockets, in case I drop anything over the edge. :P

My list of phobias...

Acrophobia, heights.
Emetophobia, fear of seeing vomit.
Claustrophobia, fear of small spaces.
Entomophobia, fear of bugs (sort of).

I'm a very nervous person...

Never really had a problem with heights...then again I'm the dumbass who always jumps first XD no time for fear...Used to be at the point of having a panic attack if i saw just a picture of a spider (thank you to a friend and google images ¬.¬) but i've overcome them recently. My other friend is also scared of spiders so i went to pick it up...My other friend who was over decided now would be a good time to remind me that i fear spiders...thanks XD.

I'm not scared of heights. But I remember on an activity camping week they took us abseiling down a 12.5m solid wood tower and I was *terrified* to lean over the edge on the rope. It took them about 2 mins to convince me to do it. It's one of those things where after you've done it once you wonder what all the fuss was about and go round a few more times but yeah, I'd say pushing yourself off the edge when there's nothing beneath you is pretty scary.

I'd like to do a bungee jump one day, I'd love to know what it feels like to freefall. The elasticy bit at the end doesn't sound so fun though :S

Parachuting is easy. It's just the first step that's a real doozy ;)

No, I have never done it. But I'll have to in the near feature when I join the military (spec ops).

Who doesn't like falling to earth thousands of feet from the ground.

It's not heights that I'm afraid of, it's the gravity. D:

This is the 100% truth. Flight would kick major ass.
My fear of heights is dependent on what my feet are standing on.

If I peer over a balcony, thats fine if my feet are on a solid path and there's a blockade of somesort keeping me from going over. I could be 30, 40, 80 feet above ground and be ok.

But put me ontop of a 11 foot ladder and I freak the fuck out.

The highest I've been
Same here, but I am always fine if im looking down when sitting on a ledge. Standing is scaryyyy

Cat boy does not equal cat.
Also I fixed your spelling ^-^

I was incredibly unnerved by heights until a high school trip to Six Flags.
What got me over it was the opportunity to spend three minutes sitting next to an amazing lady I'd been quietly yearning for.

I love roller coasters now.

(Still not too fond of heights in general, though.)
