Carrying bikes, flooded yards, unaware pets, and screw physics.

Well, I had a weird dream.

  • At first I dreamt that I was going to the grocery store, but just for a few things. I don't remember much of that part, but it's how it opened.
  • Then I was riding a bike around this area*1 and ended up clipping a car... a parked car. Apparantly my dream self doesn't have very good balance, so after some girl laughed at me I decided to just walk the bike around. I ended up meeting somebody I went to high school with and he was talking about how he was going to college... and I'm like "Dude, I already finished two years and it took me a while to actually do it"*2, then he seemed suprised, and I told him I was 25*... which seemed weird in this case because he's somebody I went to school with so he should have been within a year or so of me*4, so then I decided to come check things out...
  • In the next sequence I was going around a school. I was still walking the bike around because I didn't have a bike lock on me and didn't trust just leaving the bike at the rack outside*5, and this made for an odd situation or two, such as having to try to silently carry the bike out of a classroom that was taking a test. I ended up wandering around the building, exploring, when I came across a room that had a bunch of young ones in it. Whether it was some sort of day-care center for people with kids*6 or just a classroom for young ones for some reason I don't know, I didn't go in.
  • This is when the next sequence kicked in, I was at the bottom of a body of water. I was inside what looked to be a big (about as twll as two or three people) triangular decorative object or bell. It was either gold or some yellow-painted strucure, and it has slits in it. It looked like this...

Only more rounded and corroded, as if it had been in the water for a while. The thing is, even with the holes in it, the area on the inside was full of air. I could rotate the object (to lift one end up), slip out, and try to swim up, but I couldn't reach the surface. I had to come back down for more air every so often, then realized that the air in the object, though taking up a limited space, wasn't getting any less able to support me. I ended up trying to find some shells I could store air in to get a rebreather halfway up or something, but the problem became storing the air in them without it escaping, as it's had to swim upwards as fast as you can while keeping some air-containing objects from tipping over and spilling the air out.
  • Instead of making it on my own, I found the water level receded to the point of being reachable. In fact it was about even with the rooves of a bunch of houses nearby. I swam over and tried exploring, and I found a few quirky things.
    1. No human was around.
    2. Like the object I was originally in, the houses themselves had air. In fact the area below the overhangs had air too, as if this world used a spinoff of minecraft water physics.
    3. I was unable to break anything. A few times I tried to kick through the glass or plexiglass of a door or screen door in order to make my way to the next house without needing to work my way around or swim through too much water, but was unable to do it.
    4. I was, however, able to interact with things on a normal basis. I opened doors, ate some chocolate chips from one house, and I even changed batteries from one remote to another in order to try to determine the laser pattern it shot or something like that.
    5. Pets were still around, and acted like their owners had only been gone for 30 seconds or so, none of them seemed freaked out, and food was still there.

I don't remember much else, but I think I was still exploring the flooded neighborhood when I woke up.

*1 This is the area I grew up in, then I moved away for a long time, and now I'm back. Strangely enough, this is actually the third time I've lived in this neighborhood, and I'm actually a street away from the place I grew up in. The second time I live here I moved into the place next door to where I grew up. Strange how that stuff works out.
*2 Failed air force attempt (didn't make it through training), and a few years of doing jack shit with my life.
*3 I look younger than I am and it always seems to surprise people, so I'm not surprised it came up in a dream.
*4 Though I did repeat the 7th grade due to total lethargy about doing my homework back then.
*5 I've had bikes stolen before at school, should be obvious.
*6 In college people with kids tended to be distracted at times and their attendance is unstable.
