100% Super Mario 3D Land

I haven't had a BLOG entry since new blog system was implemented.

Anyways, since then a lot has happened, and I really mean A LOT, so to keep this short, I got myself 3DS and some games, and first game I played was Super Mario 3D Land, and I completed 100% of it. Easy game to finish, quite challenging to complete everything, I must say I enjoyed it a lot, Super Mario World is still my favorite Mario game, but I've read some bad things about this one, and I disagree with every last bit of it, I loved this game from start to finish, 3D effect is simply amazing, and I hope to see the sequel at some point in the future.

I also hope to get 3DS XL and complete this game at least once more.

Right now, I'm playing trough Ocarina of Time.....and loving it too!
I'm loving the 3DS experience!

Wooohoooo..

If you get 100% on all the save files then you get a prize
you waste your life

Don't use the tanooki suit in your next run if you want more of a challenge, personally the only items I ever used was mushrooms, didn't use power-ups at all unless I absolutely had to in order to grab a star coin or something.
It's much harder when you can't take more than two hits and can't control your falling speed.

I also found it to be a great game to speedrun, the saved time for each stage and the clocks cleverly scattered around is a huge plus for me and really adds replay value.

Super Mario World is still my favorite too, but this dont change the fact that 3D Land is a great game. But we had two epic mario games lately (SM Galaxy 1 and 2) so I understand (but not agree) people who said that 3D Land is below the expectations.

For now, 3D Land is put to side, I have few games in line waiting to be completed. Playing Ocarina at the moment, after that one I have Resident Evil Revelations, Rabbids, Kid Icarus, Dead or Alive and getting New Super Mario bros. 2 tomorrow.
I want to get Mario Kart 7 as well.

That's about it regarding 3DS for now.

I must say I expected less when I read about the 3D Land, I expected it to be mediocre, and it turned out to be really great, there are few things I'd change but nothing major.
And I agree, it has a nice replay value.

Already have my eye on that thread ;)
Even tho I'm already set, I am watching out for other 3DS games.
I'm thinking about Rayman Origins, also I'm a big fan of Picross games, would love to get Picross E, but it's only an eShop release. (hoping to see a 3D release at some point in the future :D)

Definitely looking forward to Luigi's Mansion, Paper Mario, Castlevania and Fire Emblem!! And Epic Mickey looks very colorful and fun :D

I'd say get Origins on an another platform, it's a very lazy port with slowdown and bad use of AA, it's a blurry mess. Look up reviews of the 3DS vers. and try the demo.
Ubisoft's porting team made a terrible job with this one.

Picross E is a let down :/ Lacking in content.
 • 10 5x5 tutorial grids.
 • 5 10x10 tutorial grids.
 • 30 10x10 normal grids
 • 30 15x15 normal grids
 • 30 10x10 free mode grids (no punishment or indication for getting wrong)
 • 30 15x15 free mode grids
 • 5 10x10 extra mode grids (normal mode.. but harder? maybe? I haven't noticed any difference)
 • 10 15x15 extra mode grids.
Aaaand.. that's it. :/ No weekly grids, no downloadable content, no nothing. You don't even get a grade on how fast or how many wrongs you did... just a time for each.
Soo... there's no motivators to do good..

Oh well, a new picross 3D is bound to happen soon anyway so maybe we should wait for that one.

Also have you tried Pullblox yet? It's a fantastic game and the sequel is just around the corner, check em out.
~snip
Eh, none of that seems like too much of a let-down. For only ~$10, that seems like more than enough to me.

And I don't really need a grade or whatever. They're nice bonuses but I enjoyed Mario's Picross (Gameboy) just fine without them.

Well, I like original picross, as well as both DS games, and I'm sure I'd enjoy 3DS one as well, however I can't buy anything from Nintendo web shop for now, so I'll have to wait for the actual hard copy version of the picross game.

I haven't try Pullbox, checked it out, and it really looks good, but still....can't buy it online :/
