I've always been a rather avid pokemon fan. Ever since gen 4. I enjoyed heart-gold and soul-silver loved black and white for all it's quirks, and it's squeal. I enjoyed XY for it moving to a new platform and the addition of mega evolutions.
But when I got my hands on sun and moon. It felt incomplete, it felt unnecessarily slow and handholdy, the graphics did look better, but the slowdowns in fights did hinder the experience a little. However I found Sun and Moon as a okay game, it was trying to do something different, and that was okay.... Until Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon came out.
Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon added mega evolutions back, and had a tweaked story and two new pokemon. This was when for me that I started getting a little bit upset. I felt like my purchase was just robbed, like my purchase of sun was worth absolutely nothing. As now there was a game, with the almost the same name, with a few added mechanics that was removed from the game for clear reason.
I held my quarrel with that and played ultra sun. To then immediately see most of the same story beats, and then the new Npc's kind of just shoe horned in. Even most of the island challenges were the same, except for like a Pokemon being swapped out.
Now I was frustrated with the games. Though I still held my good will, perhaps gamefreak was just stumbling on their faces. Let's go games come out. I felt a little but annoyed, but still held hope, especially when Masuda stated that a core game was being released for the switch. And with the increase of power, they should be able to make this better than the previous game. Maybe some animation tweaks, the world look-

At first, I wasn't immediately angry, I tried to give the sound reason that perhaps they were working on a whole lot.... Until he said it was for animations and models...
And then proceeds to reuse nearly every single animation in xy and sun and moon. Even the rival uses Heu's talk animation, sure the moves themselves look great, but what the pokemon are doing, their animations are not all that great.
Ever since I've been getting progressively more pissed at sword and shield. Like the realization that this is a 60 dollar game.
At this point I'm done. And what sent me over is this

So let's recap here.
Nearly all battle animations are reused.
Nearly all trainer animations are also reused, both NPC and player.
Addition of side modes that does not solve the fact that there is a ton of Pokemon removed. One of which reuses animations from a 6+ year old game.
The massive scale of pop in the wild area.
and pokemon are being removed.
So what does Sword and Shield have to offer?
New pokemon (not a whole lot given the fact they only showed us six-seven of them)
Expanded pokemon amie. (pokemon camp)
Game runs in 720p (or higher/lower)
And a new story and region....
What I'm getting at here, is what is being removed, does not add up to the amount of lost. It is not a net gain. This is a net loss, and a big one at that. And what is infurrating is that people claim game freak can't reuse the models... when they are reusing the animations. (let alone the fact the models themselves are HD. It's just the texture work isn't)
In the end I'm just sick and tired of pokemon Sword and Shield. It's a shit show that doesn't end. And the fact that Masuda stated this was for the core fans, for returning or vet players.
Removing pokemon, and then giving half fast excuses for it doesn't cut it. I will not be able to get passed getting blantely lied to. If he removed pokemon and VASTLY or just even relatively decent increase in the animation department, I would have no problems with him removing pokemon. BUT THEN, there's also the fact that when asked about the gen remakes or the next games, that he can't gaurentee that all pokemon from the previous game will be able to be in, which is bullshit.
If I play sword and shield, and the hypothetical gen 4 remake comes out, I should expect to at least be able to transfer the pokemon from sword shield to the gen 4 remake. But he can't even gaurntee that? Even though at this point you are reusing the engine? That doesn't make any sense at all.
