Today will be my last day as Chief Editor at GBAtemp.net :(

I've been a member of the forum since day 1, and part of GBAtemp from before it even became a website.
I started out as a mod/release poster and worked my way up to admin, then became Chief Editor.

As Chief Editor I dealt with over 150,000 press inquiries, aquired over 1000 game review codes, and built a team of amazing mag staff who I hope will continue to publish great content for the site.

I am sad to step down, but I'll be 40 years old next year and perspective and priorities change with age. I'm doing really well in my career IRL, and my children are at the ages where they need me more than ever.

For these reasons I've made the choice to move to Former Staff.

I wish everyone here all the best, and I hope to watch the site continue to grow. When we started this forum I had no idea it would become so popular, and still be going strong nearly 20 years later!

Thanks for everything and keep on rocking..

Peace out G-town!

P.S Don't ever let anyone tell you you can't do or be something. Always challenge if you believe you are right, but most importantly, follow your dreams - if you put the work in, you'll go far!

I'm happy to hear that all's going great on your side IRL but at the same time sad to see one of the best Mag Staff members leave as you've been a great help for the website and to me personally since I joined the staff. Thank you for all you've done and for checking my pile of reviews :D It's been a real pleasure working with you these 5 years! Hope we'll get to work together again; until then, I wish you the very best! :yay::yay::yay:

Best wishes T-hug! I remember when, back in the IRC days, we sometimes used to talk about releases and stuff (I was admin of GBArl at that time).

VR is like 3D TVs in my opinion it's cool and all but it doesn't have enough great content.

VR had the chance to integrate with existing games and tech but VR companies said "NO, I WANT MY SHIT TO BE STANDALONE AND MY GAMES EXCLUSIVE TO FACEBOOK"

  • Veho @ Veho:
Back when Oculus Rift was still starting out and being demoed around, they modded existing games to use it as a 360° immersive screen thing and that was AMAZING.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The tech isn't there for affordable power enough VR headsets at a good market value yet sadly, oculus had a good idea but didn't have enough funds for marketing iirc

  • Veho @ Veho:
But now it's "can I use my VR set with my racing games, that would be neat?" "ONLY IF YOU USE OUR DILDOSTICK CONTROLLERS AND RUN THE GAME ON OUR ANDROID-UNDERPOWERED BRICK"

  • Veho @ Veho:
The tech to have quality VR goggles at an affordable price is here, but every set has to have 4 additional controllers and be standalone.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
These are the same type of gamers that spend $2,000 on a GPU when a $600 GPU gives nearly the same outcome which is what the market looks at for them to do spend more on unneeded bs

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
If we're talking AAA titles a vr headset would be priced at nearly the same cost as a midrange gaming pc maybe even double

I think they should bring back the shutter glasses for VR put 120Hz screen in for 60FPS and even a basic phone these days can pull that off
