Nostalgia and being Retarded - Shit that Happens #6

I remember, since I was a mere child with the ability to hold things with my tiny hands, I've been curious to know how and why things works.
Countless apparatus got destroyed by my ability to hold a Screwdriver.
I've always been curious, even most of my threads starts or ends with: "Just curious"

Anyway... January 6th, 1998... back when Hot-Wheels launched (first launched?) the Washing Station...

(Imagine this in Spanish)

Of course, being poor, my parents only could afford this Trailer (humongous at the time as I could sit on it) and it came with it's own NASCAR HotWheels car:

Oh my, the memories are rushing back... the living room being empty because we didn't have couches, allowed me to play with my cars with freedom.

I don't remember how, when and where I lost/left everything that came with the Trailer. Knowing me, probably got destroyed by my curiosity. 😭
I only rediscovered it again, today... probably 25 years later, because I found it in a Box containing old toys.

The toys that I'm talking about (more in another story) were little action figures called "Rescue Heroes", that came with accessories, animal buddies and scenarios to make your own situations.
My niece, being nearly 8 months old, will appreciate and probably give a new life to all my old toys.

I decided then to clean everything... you know... preparing everything for when the time to play again (with my niece) comes.

And when I mean to clean, I mean to open/disassemble anything that can be in order to clean it properly.

Cleaning makes me happy (even doing the dishes helps me relief ocd traits) so I began with the more obvious toy to clean from all the other toys in the box... my Trailer.

Surprised, found double A batteries STILL IN IT:

The leak on the batteries wasn't that bad actually, as I've seen worse before...

Curious how ROCKET held its shape and insides, while EVEREADY didn't.
The EVEREADY battery fucked up the battery contacts and leaked a bit to the inside of the toy, reaching cables and the tiny PCB.

I didn't took pictures because I was running low on battery in my phone and I hate to use it while it's charging.

I used Vinegar to clean the rust/blue oxide off the bettery contacts. With cotton swabs I cleaned everything else and I rewired everything as the cables were totally dry in such a way that they broke with the slightest bend.

4 hours later, completely cleaned, rewired and properly screwed... my Trailer has been brought to life.
I showed it to my niece, she smiled, and showed her what the buttons do.

Dont mind the noises, sisters were watching The Kardashians while I gasped at my niece when she heard the toy.
Or might've gasped at Kourtney? I don't know ...

Now I'm hoping to get the NASCAR car sometime later. Hopefully I'll be able to find it in the street market. Internet will be my last option.

How did my parents allowed me to be so fucking stupid?
They should've taken away tools out of my reach in the first place.

This Shit that Happens, is dedicated to them, for letting me being fucking retarded with my toys.

It's random whether alkalines leak or not. Their chemistry cause a gas build up as they are used/depleted, they leak by design as the seals are designed to break when the pressure gets high enough, it's a safety thing. So the brand doesn't really matter, a cheapo brand is just as likely to leak as a known brand.
