Life decisions

All my life, i've been a "tech woman". if anything like that actually exists.

i've been criticized for liking things that are "more for men". be it gaming, be it computers, or be it studying a STEM career. "friends", family, even my own parents, have made fun of me because it. that doesn't feel good.

it's great to be able to write here, where online strangers can commont on it, and even if i get harsh comments, it seems more possible to get empthy from here than from rl people. real life "friends" i've had seems to be with me just because, they have criticized me for liking gaming and for the decisions i've made for my life.

have you ever been criticized for liking some hobby? for studying something you feel passion for?

Imagine discouraging someone from something that they have genuine interest and talent in, especially if it's something that pays the bills like CS. There's something wrong with those people.

that's very infuriating. it's good to have an optimistic attitude about it like you... :), as long as you feel good, there's nothing wrong with it. i wish i could really simply ignore all that criticism.

i wish i could think like you. it's hard for me to ignore them all, but ive tried. i was kind of depressed lately, not medically diagnosed, but i simply felt wrong and couldn't get anything done, and just because i took some stupid comments into my mind so hard.

Super conceited, whiny, weak (hearted/minded), and generally just bad.

Get some real people in your life—if you can’t borrow $500 or stay at their house for two weeks, they aren’t friends….yet?
