Someone traded in their modded wii... silly

I know a dude, who had a modded wii.

He decided to trade it in to EB Games to buy a 360.

Isn't that stupid...

1. EB games doesn't know that it's modded, so of course they just treat it like a normal wii and accepted it...
2. He could have gotten way more selling it privately...
3. Alternately he could have swapped his wii with mine so i could get a free chipped wii (lol)
4. Someone buying a preowned wii from that eb games is gonna get lucky (if they even ever realise what they got!)

Then again, he doesn't even know what chip he has in his wii... and i don't know how much he paid for it...

I'd be scared for that guy.
When trading in games and consoles, you must show ID, or give them your name and address (he could have faked this though).
EBGames sends their traded stuff to a warehouse and they refurbish them, they don't just immediately sell it at the same store; it's not a pawn shop.
So someone's bound to figure out it's a modded Wii, and they may or may not decide to pursue legal action.

Ah, interesting, I didn't know they did that. What exactly do you mena by refurbish? do they do any maintenance on the insides?

Well even worse for the guy lol. He's pretty stupid...

But when i spoke to him, he didn't mention anything about ID or anything, I think they just took it no questions asked.

Maybe EB in AUS has different procedures, or he got lucky... or he just didn't tell me all the info.

Nevermind though, and I doubt they'd take legal action.

Sucks to be him now he will be sent to prison

He should have swapped it for your unmodified Wii since you are desperate for a modded Wii.

I traded in my old custom firmware Phat PSP for a Slim PSP at EB Games. They don't care.

Plus here in Australia modding your system isn't illegal, if anything it makes it more valuable and EB Games got a good deal.

then explain how i had some jellybeans jammed into my disc tray of the first psp got used. after returning that one, i got another used slim, which had a 64mb memstick and dynasty warriors 6 umd still inside

Wai he so stu piih?
It would have been nice to trade someone who wants a modded wii.

lol, I'm not desperate for a hard modded wii, but who would turn down a free bonus? :)

btw, he is 16, and yes, and generally people consider it more valuable.

I know of a gametraders that sells modded ps1s for more, dunno if they all do.

The gametraders near me wouldn't even get in an Action Replay DS device for me a few years ago for Pokemon Pearl. Stating that there was problems with the devices and that they wouldn't work with Pokemon which was pretty funny. Don't know whether they were stupid or too lazy to get the thing in stock.
