Twitter: Online diary?

OK. After reading David Archuleta's Twitter last month or two, I started to want to have on my own since it was his concert with David Cook. I fancy his twitter blog and think "Hey! I have an anime-soon-to-be, why not create something that'll interest fans?"

There are other blogs I read like Shoko-tan of Pokemon and voice of the Jagged-Ear Pichu and the Seiyuu of Satoshi of Pokemon.

"It's a great Idea to introduce your project to the world aside from being locked away in Friendster"

So I started creating my own twitter at www.twitter.com/chris_skylock. in it, it contains not only my projects but also the things i am currently doing as long as my laptop is switched/ the internet is on/ the family PC is on.

So, it's a good start with so many random people following me and i think they are all scammers seeing their "twits" are not so readable but contained links of random and useless websites.

What's twitter and how do i abide by their rules and regulation? what's the proper way to use it? Am I doing it just fine?

I dunno. I just made a twitter account because I was bored and wanted to subscribe to my favorite sites/organizations.

Below is my profile if anyone cares.

finally, someone who I know in twitter. I'll follow you ASAP.

Im still studying what this twitter is and i dont like any facebook rip off that will own whatever you put on facebook and claim them as theirs. That's the reason i hate facebook. I hope I dont distrust twitter.

tell me any tips on twitter if possible

Sure. Never follow spammers. Look up some websites or people you know and see if they have an account on there. (EX. GBATemp) That's all I got. Good luck, and I've follow'd you btw.
ive seen links in twitter that are TINYURL. How do I make my links be in TINYURL form?
http://tinyurl.com/
do i need to go to that website or twitter will automatically converts it into that format?
Go to the website, enter your URL in the box it tells you to enter your URL in, press the button, get new tiny url, link people to your shit using the tinyurl you're given (e.g. http://tinyurl.com/lqqowd).

Enjoy conveying your feelings in 140 characters or less.

I personally think Twitter is completely stupid. You basically take Facebook and take away everything except the wall posting aspect (even then you limit the characters), and then you constantly update it. Seriously, it's not even "social networking" it's just "social posting".

im testing twitter as i go. im not a fan. im just testing it for a month.

seeing how it goes, random people will follow you despite of them being unknown.

i have my own project and i think im in danger for someone will copy my project and claim them as theirs.

i'll see how many people will folow me randomly and laugh at the end as i will end my subscription. lol

i'll try to post minimal data about my project.

I like the microblogging made possible by twitter. I'm using twhirl as a client, so I don't have to go to the twitter homepage and to conveniently post/read updates/replies/whatever directly from my desktop. Also, in my opinion, bit.ly is even better than tinyurl.

Well, I also got Twitter, and here are my findings from the last two/three months:
-TwitPic is great for your Photos. Sign in with your existing Twitter account.
-You can use TinyURL, although Twitter shorts Links automaticly for me...
-TwitterFox is an great Application
-Next point: Search up for Twitter Apps...there are many apps for everything (Handy, DS, iPhone, PC, etc...)
-Next point: Search up for websites that supports Twitter (ex. GamerDNA, etc.)
-Delete the Spam-Followers
-Make a Custom BG (that's not easy...you'll have to try until you got the right size, and don't make them bigger as 300kb)
-Invite your Friends, or ask them to make one-->more Fun
-Follow your Idols and stars (stalking on a legal way :P)
-Always think twice before pressing the Enter-button
-Maybe think about to close it for everyone
Well, I think that's it :P. I think Twitter is great, Facebook is simply too much for me...I like it simple :).

how do you reply to a twi? like this one:

@NewsPatterns2 - Great question. We are doing an upcoming series of interviews, will put that on the list of questions to ask. Thanks!

how do you put the "@<insert name>"?

G
You can put the '@<NAME>' anywhere in the tweet and it will be shown as a reply to the other user. If you put it in front of your tweet, others, who aren't following both of you, won't receive the update though.

even if i use the 140 character limit? the "-" (negative) can be posted as the name?

like if i posted 140 characters and put the name on the 141st, i can still post it?

Can't agree with you more, not to mention it just seems so pointless constantly telling people waht you're doing or thinking. I keep getting messages from twitter saying to click on a link to reactivate my account... it seems even after deleting your account you're still gonna get spammed.

Afaik the name counts towards the 140 character limit. Longer tweets will be shortened automatically.

@antwill: So im forced to use twitter even after my 1 month trial? bummer. Who are those people following you (er..mine)? They're so random. I wonder if they are spammers? I should block some of them and retain the useful ones.

@takeshi: thanks for the tips. too bad i will be limited to the 140 limit with the included name.

took me a while to look for the GBATEMP twit. I hope Im not a spammer to them (like posting useless websites. that's spam to me)
