Success!

Well, I just wanted to update everyone on the situation. The urgent message to Canadians has reached many many eyes and ears, the effort on our part at GBAtemp has been an overwhelming success! We may very well have made a huge difference in this legislative process.

Now for some statistics: As of typing this the topic on GBAtemp has received over 33 THOUSAND views, nearly 200 replies, and brought in nearly 5000 viewers on average last night (when last I checked); most of whom were reading the topic. On the Digg front we've gotten nearly 350 comments and OVER 2200 diggs. We even reached Digg's front page. Finally, the most important detail of all, according to a representative from the CCER they're having hundreds of letters sent using their service every hour!

I'd like to take this time to thank The Teej for spreading the word to various forums and groups, Hadrian for putting up the Digg article, and of course Costello for contacting me about this in the first place when he was under no patriotic obligation to do so. The support from these fine fellows and the global community at large has been nothing short of astounding. To my fellow Canadians, all I can say is thank you and keep on sending those letters and spreading the good word.

In closing, I'd like to point you all towards the pre-written letter sending service once more and put up the signature images/code.

I'm not certian there's anything that I, being American, can do to help.

I do, however, support the cause.

Well you could use a Canadian address and send a letter.

At least people had something to read when they got here, once the trash talk had been removed.....

Thanks for all the hard-work everyone! And a special thanks to those support the cause yet not directly affected :)

Hey ace gunman I think you should include province\city address for people outside of Canada to use.
Montreal/Quebec
Toronto/Ontario

Well, I may not be Canadian, but I sent a letter. Hope everything works out in the end for my northern neighbors :grog:

Thanks for the kind words everyone, but the real praise should go to the CCER and all of you out there. :grog:

...why is this a "success"?

We don't know whether or not we've accomplished anything or not yet...

The success is that the idea was to raise awareness and have Canadians use the letter service en mass. Both of these things have been accomplished.

Just out of curiosity: Could you please explain what the CCER exactly is, having a "representative"? The web site doesn't state anything about the CCER itself or its intents and purposes. The only information it features a very short "memebers" list of five modchip sellers.

Well, its intent is fairly straightforward: to fight this legislation. As for its members, that list is the majority coalition (to my knowledge) though it expands into other areas as well. I'm fairly new to this so I don't know all of the details.

Congratulations Mr Gunman. Amazing how much heart and soul you put into this.

RESPECT and long live homebrew/modchips!
