Anyone else a Rent head?

Seriously, I was entirely nervous about my exam yesterday...and I go into the exam, and poof! (Easy questions.) Problem was? I was listening to the Rent (the musical) soundtrack when I was studying for it. (Listened to it about 10 times.)

I actually left the gym singing one of the little ditties. (Your what you own)

Seriously, my classmates thought I was weird.

Anyone else a Rent fan? I know all the lyrics from the movie, and the Broadway version. (I think it's funny, because I just replaced my Rent dvd - because I accidentally scratched it.)

I fucking hate Rent.

Sure, there may be some sort of underlying message about how we all need to free ourselves from the material things in life, but all I saw was a bunch of gays and hippies complaining about being evicted because they didn't want to pay rent.

There was that AIDS romantic subplot I felt was just jammed in there too.

This is all from what I've collected from the movie. I have no intention of seeing a live show.

I never got what it was with Rent. Yet again, I hate musicals and happiness.

I saw it live many many years ago, and I've heard the soundtrack about a thousand times. The live show was enjoyable, if a bit silly, but then I'm not a big fan of musicals and have a bit of a hard time suspending my disbelief enough to see breaking out into song as a natural thing. Still, the show was enjoyable, not quite up to Phantom or J. C. Superstar, but enjoyable nonetheless.

As for the soundtrack, I lived with someone for nine years who loved it, and even after being subjected to that kind of torture, I still don't hate it. Believe it or not, that says a lot about it's quality.

Evita on the other hand, can go die.

Agreed. I only like the single song in it - "Don't Cry for me Argentia".

Dunno why, Rent inspires people or makes people annoyed - there is no middle ground. First time I saw it, I was also annoyed by the fifty romantic subplots in there - and the rather cheesy ending. In fact, I'm still annoyed at the ending - Mimi returns to life for loving Rogers and that stupid reference to "out of body experiences". *is annoyed*
