RIP, my big ol' blue DS

Just when my flashcart craps out, my DS followed suit not long after. What a crummy day. The flashcart, I didn't have a problem parting with it - but my DS... crap. I know full well I brought to its death, with all the misuse and abuse. Still, it held up so well. It's not completely dead, just showing its age I suppose. It can still play games both DS and GBA, it just succumbs from time to time. Now I'm left wondering if I should look for a new unit - lite or XL... or just skip everything all together. i suppose, I can wait till the DS' time is over and just buy one for dirt cheap... I just have to get a working flashcart before they current line disappears. nghhh...

Oh well... At least its last game was GS:TLA... I may not have the chance to play Dark Dawn anymore, but at least my DS went out with a bang. Now I'm left with only my PSP and Wii. Although I love my PSP, it just isn't the same. Even I bought the PSP 5 long years AFTER my DS, I still played my DS a lot more. Dunno why - the games on the PSP were just... limited, I suppose. I want my DS back.

the ds lite is like 5k in greenhills for the korean version. I wouldnt trust any other DS Lite other than the korean version because most US DS Lite are refurbished.

Get a DSi for like 8k and the XL for like 9k in greenhills.

look around at tipidpc.com and choose your seller. Heck, I am a seller there but I dont want to sell because I give LIFETIME warranty. hehehehe. the only advice I can give to you is beware of bank-to-bank with shipping. Meet-ups are fine. also check for feedbacks.

That is if you live in Metro Manila or in the Philippines

Yeah, I'm in the Metro but not for very long - going to spend my vacay in the province soon. crummy vacation without the comfort of my DS...

While 5k is a very reasonable, I'm kinda strapped for cash right now. I already gave myself a chrismtas gift, a crummy but functional christmas gift that cost 12k (SE phone, android, donut edition, no update in sight). but I'm enjoying it... The only thing that irks me right now is my gut feeling... I want a DS, yet I don't wanna buy one due to the 3DS. Decisions, decision. Maybe it's a good thing losing my DS... A sign even. Been a bum since I quit my job, so maybe it's time for me to rethink about things. Eh... I dunno. For now, I suppose I'm going cold turkey. I'm still annoyed though; just can't shake the feeling off.

awww...i could give you my ds lite if you want. hehehehe....im still planning. I love to plan things but half of it might get abandoned. so small chance if i rethink of it.

Hope you fix your status soon. It's hard to get a job here in our beloved country. I just pray you made the right choice.

As a christian-country is always saying, God is planning something good for you. It happened to me and it will happen to everyone else. "everything is planned right from the beginning; right from your ever born" (nakahanda na simula pa ng ika'y ipinanganak)

What exactly is the problem with the DS? Have you tried replacing the battery and/or opening up the unit and cleaning everything?

the ribbon might be broken. I know how he/she felt because my beloved PokePark DS 2005 was broken beyond repair. I know it's beyond because the slot for the LCD ribbon is broken so I need a new mobo for it.

    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
