For once, Monkat The Super Awesome And Sexy Monkey King is feeling a bit indecisive.
Since middle school, really, I've made my goal to be a translator, but with transfer applications coming up, I've been pondering other career options, largely in that I can still do translations on the side without a degree if necessary ! Besides that, a large reason that I wanted to become a translator was that most were freelancers, and (as you can all imagine) I was none for schedules, having superiors, or the like.
Now, I've grown accepting of the idea that schedules are only used for convenience, superiors are anything but, and taxes for employees are a lot less headache-y!
Besides, I got to thinking about why I like languages so much, not necessarily learning foreign languages, and sociology / psychology was a big part of it - where did language come from? How are they used? How can something so convoluted work?!
So I'm thinking about majoring in psychology or sociology and minoring in linguistics (studying foreign [and domestic ] languages on the side on my own), and then going on to be a speech therapist at some school, since I'm (don't say a word) great with kids.
Thoughts? Or not. Whatever. Just something to ponder.
