Various Food Substances

It occurred to me that a lot of food that seems like it would be delicious, such as Cake, Pie, Ice Cream etc. Is not nearly as delicious as some healthy alternatives. The only problem is there are practically no stores in the area, save one with limited selection, that carry such items. Usually the healthier, more delicious alternatives tend to be more expensive as well. The reason I think that some healthier alternatives are more delicious is it doesn't make you feel like total shit afterwards. Usually, after eating healthy (Whether it be sweets or not) you feel pretty good, less groggy etc. With processed bullshit, you are what you eat. I'm going to make a promise to myself to eat healthy, because I know that if I do I will feel better. If I feel better, I will make better decisions. If I make better decisions I'll have a better life. Get what I'm saying? Oh yeah, here are a few examples of delicious desserts that are healthy:

  • Various Fruit
  • Yogurt
  • Trail Mix
  • Organic Pastry (occasionally)

I could write more, but you get the point. I want to know what you guys think though. Do you feel the same way?

Did you ever notice the things that are healthier for you are often more expensive than the foods that are bad for you.

This is why a lot of people are overweight. Healthy foods cost more and people who want to remain healthy or get into a healthy state have to spend more, which is literally impossible for many people with the bad economy. People tend to go for cheaper quality foods to save money, but many don't realize they are eating unhealthily. For some people it is a lot cheaper to go to KFC and order a bucket of fried chicken rather than buying a chicken and preparing and cooking it themselves, which will definitely be a healthier choice.

It is a whole lot easier and cheaper to go the fast food route and that is what sucks. We still try to avoid that route as much as possible. My kids are very very very picky eaters but they eat fruits and yogurts. They are not much into the veggie scene. We may have had fast food 1-2 times in the past month and maybe 1-2 pizza's if you consider that fast food.

I practically live off of PB&J on whole wheat and wheat thins :P. Frosted Mini Wheats too...

That's what makes fast food so popular in college; Students have so little money, that they are forced to go to fast food, forever hooking them to the stuff for the rest of their lives.

This is why I think America is so over-weight; If we had a free college system, we'd not have so many people hooked.

Yeah, a meal at my cafeteria is like $8.50 or something, and it tastes absolutely terrible. You shouldn't have to ask what something is supposed to be. The only days that it is good is on "college days" for high school kids. They spend a couple nights at the dorms to get an idea of what it's like, so the cafeteria serves something similar to actual food on those days.

The only fast food weakness I have is Papa John's Pizza...and our local dairy's ice cream, provided it's chocolate chip cookie dough. Only their ice cream doesn't make me sick.

Try living where fast food joints really don't exist...I won't eat at McDonald's, Burger King, or Subway...and the choices are slim otherwise. Wendy's is the only one I can tolerate.

Goddamnit. Now I want trail mix. Thanks a lot.

That said, have you ever tried "nutritional yeast" on popcorn? My aunt got me hooked on the stuff.

I don't like Yogurt. It tastes... weird. I'd take Pistachio or Chocolate ice cream over Yogurt any day, healthy or not.

Though now I want fruit salad.
