What would be the best dog to get?

I was thinking of getting a dog for my birthday, any thoughts on which ones though?

Kirbydog...

:P

You should add in what you want. A guard dog or just a small little one...

I would suggest a medium sized dog of some sort (unless you find a large breed you really want). I personally have a pitbull that we've raised from a young puppy who is absolutely adorable and awesome.

Golden Retriever or some sort of lab?

Just for the love of god don't get a hunting dog like a beagle or something.

G
Labrador retriever.
They are the most friendly dogs, and they will never dare to disobey you.

I know someone who had a Beagle. Must have been the most stupid dog I'd ever met.

^ I have to second this vote.
They're the best....unless you can find a miniature husky.

i like the Labrador Retriever. really playful, loyal, intelligent, good swimmer and hunter. its a pretty good loyal dog

japanese chin - bichon mix.

By themselves, not super cool dogs.
Mixed together they're the ultimate dog. I love 'em.

^THIS^

I have a husky. Siberian. Red and white colourings with grey marks that look like a Batman mask around his eyes, which are light green with a blue tint around the edges. He's called Nanaki and he's awesome. Always happy to see me, great with kids, etc.

Plus nothing says 'don't fuck with me' like having your own wolf.

Yeah, I know about Nanaki, he's what interested me in getting a dog.

Take note on your climate. Huskies don't exactly have thin fur, so don't bring one to the tropics unless you want a constant 2-foot layer of underfur (the fluffy white stuff) all over your house.

I have a jack russel terrier. Adorable!!

Really obedient and excellent mice-catcher. :ha:

Oh, and I didn't even send it to obedience school

THAT is why siberian huskies are fuckin' awesome.

And don't worry too much about climate. Nanaki doesn't like heat much but we just walk in the shade wherever possible, or stop to get him a drink once in a while if it's truly an inferno outside. He doesn't leave fur everywhere except when he moults twice a year, which isn't a problem. I just take him to the local park and give him a damn good brush. Gets rid of loose hair without it being all over my floor.
