I've been thinking...

You know, a lot of good members have left. And the site feels like it's kinda lost it's appeal to me or something. I actually spend more time in the shoutbox then I would do other things. This isn't a "leaving" thread or anything, I just feel that the site isn't as great as it use to be. Something just feels odd to me. And I don't know what it is.

It feels like I should say more....but I can't seem to think of what too say.
Honestly, I feel like this site has been going downhill for the past year and a half or so. I felt that it was mainly a video game/hacking/modding discussion forum when I first came here, but now, it just feels like a social/off topic forum half the time.
This. I mean, I never expected a forum to be social.

Now for my real, less sarcastic comment...actually, hunter pretty much said my real thoughts.

Well, I might sound arrogonat but a few users leaving the 'temp isnt leading it to its death. They might have been your close buddy, but we have more than just a few 'tempers?
IMHO the active userbase in general is declining. In other words, we have less active users, less posts.
Thats just how I feel and its just my opinion. I havent taken it from any official statistics..

You come for the hacking, stay for the friends. When that runs dry you either leave too, or just find new 'friends'.

Overall nothing has changed, although GBAtemp isn't as lax as it used to be in terms of the social aspect.
Things I got away with back then would easily get me banned nowadays.

Eleborate. I feel that our staff members are pretty understanding and.. that statement is not clear to me, I suppose

If it makes anyone feel better, I am still here! :P

But seriously, being on this site for so long, I am not unduly worried. It happens from time to time and it will continue to happen.

Well, sure. Members have come and gone here, either just fading, or permanently leaving marks on the Temp. It's really all a matter of perspective. The member I recall from the times I joined, even if it's the same ones, have changed over time.

Well, the demographic is changing. What was once a (slightly) more mature forum is now both more lax and more strict in many areas.

I, for one, am becoming less active only because of school. I would love to come here more often.

This site tends to be exciting when something exciting is happening in the scene: a big game release, a masterful new hack, or some new OFW that takes our fun away.

Any big event that gets people stirred up makes GBAtemp an exciting place of discussion for the regulars. Otherwise, people blab about stupid shit a lot more than usual. Its human nature I guess. :P

What concerns me most is that eventually people will start to grow weary of the Wii and DS scenes as these systems slowly lose support from Nintendo completely. Essentially the Temp's future lies squarely on some mysterious, unnamed but brilliant programmer to crack the 3DS or WiiU. GBAtemp's future lies with that individual (or group).

tl;dr
GBAtemp continues slow decline until 3DS or WiiU hack

Guess it's one of those times

I guess to elaborate, I've actually seen some old temps and talked with them on other sites. Treeki for example. Weird thing is that I found out where he was via Xkeeper (If you don't know who I'm talking about, look at the NDS Rom Hacking section). Xkeeper has his own site and stuff and a irc I decided to join. I saw Treeki and some other old members and we started to talk a bit and that's what got me thinking.
