Picked up a PSP 3000.

My 2000's got some hardware issues (and is PSN banned, sort of), so I'm setting that one aside as my testing model (as it's an older 2000 so I can pandora and crap if needed) and went to get myself a new one. Nothing around me had a Go for me to try out (or even to buy and get used to), so I just got a 3000 from my local walmart for $130. Since I didn't get anything for christmas this is my gift to myself. :P

Having a properly functional analog assembly and no faceplate scratches and no backlight bleeding and all that jazz is nice...

But the interlacing is visible, even when scrolling items up and down in the main menu. However it's not nearly as detracting as the 2000's blur (especially when dealing with black and white situations), and considering that many old displays were interlaced anyways, I don't care since my focus is emulation. Hell, there's some video plugins for various PC emulators to simulate interlacing. XD

Also it came with 6.60 stock (PRO reports 09g), and the battery had 75% charge already. Sticking with 6.60 PRO-B10 vshmain patch for now.

EDIT: I meant sticking with the fastrecovery now since the vshmain patch doesn't work on 6.60. XD

Also, I returned it. Even with a working analog stick, it's just positioned so awkwardly that it's hard ot play games that require it. :\ So I'mma' look into a Go.

You returned it because it's controls were awkward? Your 2000's weren't? I don't get it....

I got my 2000 used, the analog is all frictiony and hard to move (and has always been, I even got a replacement and the replacement was like that), so I never tried to use it often enough to realize the positioning sucked anyways. The 3000's analog was smooth, but it was just too uncomfortable to hold. The go's analog is at a "proper" location for my hand size and such, which is why I'm thinking of picking up one of those instead if I can find it cheap enough.

That's the screen issue, yeah. It was always a bit like that, but after I've been opening it up over and over to take pics and shit it's just gotten worse. I mean it's not unusable, but it's an eyesore.

I find it awkward that I go into a blog post that says "I picked up a PSP 3000", but then read "I returned it" at the end of the blog post.

You should've bought another PSP 2000. They're out there. I doubt they have the hackable motherboard though. I found one at Superstore a couple of weeks back. I'm definitely going to go buy it later this month if it's still there.

The only major thing your going to have to get used to with the GO is it's Controls. They're pretty squished together but to a point where it's comfortable.

The distance between thumb and index fingers is actually greater when holding a Go. I think the Go is the more 'big hand' friendly model IMO. I prefer the 3000 because I have small hands (and for other reasons).

I still love my Go, but I would choose the 3000 as my 'Desert Island' system. :P
