God damn Rayman is a long game

Rayman Origins that is. Maybe it's because I'm sick and I'm not in my usual gaming mood, but to me (right now at least), Rayman Origins is such a long ass game.

Don't get me wrong, the game is beautiful to look at, it actually has color, something of which is barely used in this generation of gaming, and the art style and music is top notch. I just beat the Bird Boss for the second world. But maybe it's just me, but I think it might be a bit too much platforming.

I really love the underwater levels in this game, I mean the controls for it are just superb. But some of the levels, I think don't add anything to the game. Mainly the desert levels. I like the bouncing drums, that's a neat element, but the air thing where you float up and stuff, iono, I'm not a fan of that.

But my favorite levels is where you're flying on the mosquito. Damn I love those levels, I wish a whole world was with them.

Such a beautiful game, Im trying to model the shoes im designing after the origins style, only with rabbids. Of course rayman is still on the cover :P
Anywho, I rather enjoyed the length of it as a platformer. It just made the game so top notch for me.

i fell alsleep during the ice level chase with the thrid fariy with my cousin and my friend and that was on there wii... man i must of been bored of needed sleep.

G
It certainly is, I've played it for quite a bit on Steam and I'm still not done. Really good game, though.

Tell me about. I'm at the fifth or sixth world and I've only collected around 100 electoons.

If nothing else, you certainly can't complain about getting your money's worth out of them.

I'm on the last world, and jesus christ, thank god this game doesn't have lives, this world is hard. Fucking machines and sawblades man. Unbelievable. It's definitely taking skill to beat. Which games these days lack.

@K3Nv2, Not gonna lie, about half of its game library was shovelware like its counterpart, the Wii.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, and the other half were just 1st party games

@Xdqwerty, The Wii U was essentially an early Switch, before the Switch was a thing.

They already had the technology but the price to performance wasn't there

I think my favorite PS1 enhancement is sub pixel precision, helps get rid of some of those wobbly polygons lol

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Psionic Roshambo, By default, the polygons are filtered with differing to simulate depth, which doesn't make them clearer.

There are ways to disable this by creating cheat codes, but this requires knowledge of the PS1 hardware.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I miss the old game shark books you could just go to Walmart and buy now it's instant ban or some punishefor using cheats

@Psionic Roshambo, the filters i hate the most are the bilinear ones
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
@K3Nv2, when the PS1 was out I had the PS1 the N64 and on PC I had the Voodoo 2 and glide looked soooo nice at the time 🥰
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Biliniar filters are OK but brz is better I like SuperEagle but out of all of them xbrz is probably the most computationaly expensive
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Emulation is the way to go for so many reasons NES get rid of flicker by turning off the sprite per line limit. Cheats? Ken Batocera is your friend almost every console has cheats in it
