I got Pokemon Platinum!

This is my first blog entry ever at GBAtemp.

I just have to say that I'm incredible proud of myself for finally getting my first DS game since summer last year. Note that I'm Australian so it was winter for a lot of you guys last year, which is when I got my first flashcart. ;) You might've noticed I said "getting" instead of "buying" in my second sentence. Well that's because I actually accepted a deal where you trade in any 2 NDS games for Platinum free. I actually made a promise to myself when the US ROM was dumped that I would play it first then get the actual game later and I'm really glad I fulfilled my promise. What I did didn't make me feel as good as I would've if I actually paid for the game so I ended up buying that massive 624 page strategy guide for $34 AUS which is about half the price of a normal DS game here.

Yay for the crappy DSi-quality photo.

There is a con to actually buying the game from my experience. I dumped the game yesterday using Rudolph's NDS Backup Tool and realised since the Game ID is different, I'd have to edit the cheat database manually or continue using the US dump not that I plan on playing the game off my genuine game cartridge much anyway.

I know my blog entry is really corny but feel free to tell me about games you've bought since you started getting into the flashcart scene and how you felt afterwards.

The only games I bought are Pokemon Platinum and a second hand Phoenix Wright Justice for All.

My sis was given by a British friend in London mailed to her here in the Phillipines a Pokemon Diamond. The rest are in the flashcarts

$34 for the strategy guide? (most of which is useless information with big pictures, lol)
I had to pay 45 when i bought it for my brother last week...damn you EB and your overpricedness!

and the only game i've bought after getting my cyclo was portrait of ruin,it was cheap and doesn't have the lag you get playing on a flashcart.

I got both from JB Hi-Fi. I'm pretty sure the strategy guide is around $34 at EB Games too so I don't know how you got ripped off like that.

Congrats Eion-Rider the last game i bought is Pokemon platinum japanese version and i will get a dsi and pokemon platinum usa version on june :) and the rest of new games on my Acekard2i

I have bought plenty of games before I discovered the divine instrument of DS pirates called a flashcart :D The last game was probably..... Rune Factory!

But I'm going to buy Starfy when I have money next month, KH next year, Zelda and Pokemon! I WILL.

For me, the last game I bought while I had a flash cart was Metroid Prime Pinball and I bought it to try the rumble pak, which turned out to be c***.

While I never promised myself to buy the games I liked, Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver is an exception (and probably Platinum).

I've already promised myself and agreed with a friend to buy HeartGold or SoulSilver when it comes out in Australia. :yayds:

I just can't get enough of Pokemon games even if it means all of my friends calling me a loser. xD

Well most of my friends (and maybe most of the people in the interwebz) think that the series has died since Crystal. Well they will probably bring out their DSes again when two of the best PKMN games come back in town with a new look.

Also, that game will prove my 10-year old cousins that think Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum is the best. I showed them a video of the battle with Ash/Red and they diskliked it for the plain fact of it being "old"...

That DSi camera-shot is impressive. Which pixel did you use?

My cellphone camera isn't even that powerful!

Then your cellphones camera sucks hardly. That's VGA. Even my 6 year old old cellphone could do that. :O

nice to see people still buying some games! :D
Thought about preordering it so I could give the plastic figure to my brother but then I was like "nah, I'm to cheap"

They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik

but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip

    Probably combined in one chip

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source

I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.

considering the steamdeck can emulate the switch (yikes) theres almost 0 reason to buy the switch apart from playing online and using cartridges

Xinput and 360 dongles were a driver nightmare
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
