Share a poem.

I enjoy poetry. From my introduction to Shel Silverstein in my elementary days, it's always given me inspiration and enjoyment. I write a bit myself now and again, so I wanted to share my work here and invite others to share as well. It doesn't have to be your work, but share a poem you enjoy!

I am a dreamer, I dream the dreams,

This world can be cruel as it's not what it seems.

We fly on planes and travel in car,

Yet people we're close to can seem very far.

I dream of the mountain I dream of the beach,

I aim for the stars though they're out of my reach.

I strive to achieve my life's ambition,

I find good strength in all competition.

We move forward in life as we haven't a choice,

But I am a dreamer and dreams are my voice.

I will speak these dreams and let them be loud,

For I am a dreamer for that I am proud.

Please dream for yourself of horizons not seen,

Don't ever forget life begins with a dream.

I wrote this about 2 years ago when I was pretty sad about someone.

There are times I wanted to help everyone,

I hated to see people feeling bad.

I once became closer to someone,

I knew what problem they had.

Something I knew what I could do anytime,

To get rid of their sadness.

Something I knew that would improve their hard time,

Leading to no more madness.

There's hope they could see the sunlight,

Escape the darkness of a sad day.

To live infinite moments of delight,

So they could push fear away.

I don't know if that's even the proper poem format, I never knew how that worked, lol.

I wrote this on one particularly melancholy night in June --

Two people
Lost at sea,
Sharing nothing in common but the other's memory.
Could they find each other?

As time grows, so too does distance.
If their memory is a fragment of time,
Then its as if they were close forever.
But how are they to close the growing distance
With no more time left together?

It was a sad time in my life. I was coming to terms with drifting apart from a very dear friend. This is the only poem I've written for myself.

@VinsCool i personally don't feel that poetry has any particular format. It's whatever you want it to be, and says whatever you want it to say. Nice job!

@Tomato Hentai I'd love to read those haikus if you ever found or remembered them!

@HaloEliteLegend thats pretty deep stuff. I hope you're feeling better these days, or grew closer with your friend again. Nice job and thanks for sharing!

@brickmii82 Man, I've been an emotional wreck this entire past year, but I've gotten over my losing that friendship at least. We never did grow closer again, at least not yet, but I've accepted that now. I'm very stressed out currently, but I am feeling better, thank you :)

I remember there was a Haiku thread somewhere... Tomato I think you made it too. Have you got a link? I remember I posted a bunch in there.

Poems are just words
Words are just sounds
Sounds are nothing if not heard
Hearing without listening doesn't work
Working without a plan is wasting time
If you read all of this, only half the lines rhymed.

"Waves"

Waves in the ocean

Waves in the sand

Waves of devotion

Waves of the hand

Waves of sound

Waves of light

Waves that drown

Waves that fight

Waves of war

Waves of peace

Waves of tour

Waves of feast

Waves of laughter

Waves of tear

Waves of slaughter

Waves of fear

Waves that chain

Waves that free

Waves in vain

Waves in thee

Waves are loud

Waves of outcry

Waves to the crowd

Waves goodbye

I wrote this when a Friend, "Broke up",
basically, She thought I was looking for a gf, and that she wasn't,
which I guess it was technically my fault.
Because I didn't watch what I said, and it was easily could have been taken it like that.

I was a wreck after that, I got over it (possibly?) quickly, and it definitely
helped writing my feelings out, into this poem.

Good bye old friend,

I am sorry the end did not amend.
I guess it's been around the bend, don’t mind that I cried.
I think I might have died, but that’s okay I’ll go out.
You’ll go your way, I’ll go mine.
Didn’t think it would go this way, but I guess I passed that line.
I enjoyed your company, I think you enjoyed mine.
The memories might not have been many, but they were divine.
I’m sorry, but don’t worry.
The could not of amend, but we both knew,
But now, the end.

@DeoNaught we often find heartbreak a muse, don't we? You have my sympathy.

@rileysrjay I like it! It's very open and revealing!

@brickmii82 thanks! I used to have to write a lot of poems, haikus, mini stories, ect. At my school using our spelling list words since our literature and spelling classes were combined in the early grades. I think I came up with that one at college a year ago in my English 101 class. The teacher just out of the blue asked us to write a haiku, and that's what I came up with.

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
@Xdqwerty yep that's what I use my stick for most anymore, streaming tv shows, movies. or even youtube. Or doing kens mum.

If you just want pi for emulation no point when Anbernic releases new shit every two seconds
    +1
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option
    +1
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway
    +1
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They could use HD out on their TV no real need for a monitor these days tbh the purists will disagree
