I'm disappointed after watching indiana jones again today and realising there aren't seemingly any movies of that quality coming out these days.
Take star wars for example, the first 3 movies were in a whole different league than the newest 3. There were good parts about the newest 3 but mostly the aesthetics IMO. And the storyline of the latest indiana jones was just ludicrous compared to the older ones. Alien/inter-dimensional intelligent beings?! Totally ruined it I think. It would even be better if it was just about the crystal skulls I think and not the alien part at all.
I like avatar though, the trilogy seems promising as do all James Cameron's movies that I've seen.
Another example; Predators (2010) although I liked it, it wasn't of the same feel as the old Predator. Something about the 70's-2000 movies just seem more entertaining. Are they trying to appeal to a different audience? I didn't used to like the older star wars episodes when I was younger, maybe because there is a lot more action in the newer movies.
