With 3DS reaching EoL Soon,

since that the NX will be a combo in a hellish way Handheld+Console, and no plans or word of a proper handheld successor to the 3DS, how much further do you (who read this) think we'll see updates, new games etc released once its officially been titled that by nintendy? the DSi didnt live much longer in terms of content once it received that lovely title after the 3DS released, same with the Wii when the WiiU came out (6 months seems to be nintendo's magic "Drop like a redheaded stepchild" number. )

i can atleast see 2 to 3 FW Updates but for games in terms of mainstream? Sun & Moon is likely the last Pokemon related title Might see Maybe one more Mario game dont know about any Zelda related title. there'll always bee lil 3rd party indie games on eshop like the DSiWare/WiiWare had for a short time following.

and on topic here, we likely will see that 11.0/11.1 A9 Exploit released once it hits EoL past its end of updates, i cant speak for Devs on CFWs like salt, Corbinik, Lima and Luma, but once existing issues and planned features implemented /fixed, im not sure how long they'll receive updates.

its been a Wild 5 years since the 3DS has been out (hard to believe allready! ) but i personally hope to see the homebrew community thrive when Nintendo stamps this as EoL and we stop seeing CFW/Homebrew blocking FW Updates.

I think that 3DS will last until 2018 - 2020. If the NX founds his way to be a "proper" handheld (which i doubt), then RIP 3DS. But in either case, WiiU will suffer an inevitable death with the NX, even if NX goes to full handheld market.

And about everything else, it seems as you say. No more Zelda and Pokémon games for 3DS past the NX release.

I don't know, because like its the DS it survived a lil bit after the 3ds was released,
but ya like Autz said it will probly last a few years.

    Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.

    I'm designing my own entertainment cabinet for my man cave, to store all my systems, then I'm also designing a power supply/HDMI switcher so I can switch to whichever system I want, and power it also. Already picked up the cabinet board, but tinkering with my drawings before start

    But yea, I have frogger arcade cabinet that I gutted and put a Pi4 then Pi5 into, but it never gets played much anymore, should sell it. Even when the kids come over, they don't want to play on it, just the xbox. TMNT and Simpson's arcade is still so fun on it, esp w 2 players.
