Ready for an update? Nintendo has just pushed out a new firmware for the Switch, bringing the system's software version up to 12.0.1. Per usual, "officially", this is just a stability update, so keep an eye out and wait to see what's really under the hood before you update your Switch, if you care about homebrew.

Ver. 12.0.1 (Released April 19, 2021)
General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.

Yeah but now that the foundation is there, could it be implemented via atmosphere?

Potentially. I'm pretty sure they could add the functionality via Atmosphere regardless of what Nintendo added to the OS, since they're using generic off-the-shelf parts for the Switch's bluetooth connection. The real question is if anyone wants to implement it.

Just putting this out here. I updated to 12.0.1 and the update didn't break atmosphere. Everything is working fine except connecting to the internet. The switch would connect to my router but not to the internet and give an error message saying "Unable to Connect to the Network." Not sure if it is the update that is causing this or I did something wrong when updating. Anyways, there wasn't much confirmation on whether or not this update would fully work so I made a mistake updating it .

EDIT: Okay, there was something wrong with the old host file and I just had to replace it. Everything works fine.

It looks morte than you are using 90ND DNS protection.

I'm not using 90DNS, so I'm not sure what's wrong. It may have to do with the BSD socket thing that was updated with 12.0.1. I have no idea what that is though

EDIT: Disregard all this, I'm just being dumb. I had an old host file that needed to be replaced.

VR had the chance to integrate with existing games and tech but VR companies said "NO, I WANT MY SHIT TO BE STANDALONE AND MY GAMES EXCLUSIVE TO FACEBOOK"

Back when Oculus Rift was still starting out and being demoed around, they modded existing games to use it as a 360° immersive screen thing and that was AMAZING.

The tech isn't there for affordable power enough VR headsets at a good market value yet sadly, oculus had a good idea but didn't have enough funds for marketing iirc

The tech to have quality VR goggles at an affordable price is here, but every set has to have 4 additional controllers and be standalone.

These are the same type of gamers that spend $2,000 on a GPU when a $600 GPU gives nearly the same outcome which is what the market looks at for them to do spend more on unneeded bs

If we're talking AAA titles a vr headset would be priced at nearly the same cost as a midrange gaming pc maybe even double
