"What files? afaik the only file it stores on the SD Card (when downloads are set to USB anyways) Is the config file that it reads the settings from. Then again don't credit me fully on this - I haven't tested anything with NUSspli recently because my console is bricked lol"

Thx for the awnser, maybe i was looking wrong.. installing some games atm, so will look again when i'm done.

Maybe it were old files, will check later this evening..

Edit: stupid me, i had my "test sd card" in the wiiU.. not my normal use one.. it had some games on it for testing.

I’ve combed through the last 5 pages and hardly anything was worth preserving - nuke dropped. I’m only going to do this once (everyone gets one “Get out of Jail Free” card), the next Flame War I see will have consequences to all participants. I don’t particularly care to take sides, I only care about the thread being *readable* to users who come across it, and all of those posts were impeding that. Online mud slinging contests exist because *two or more* people want to participate in them - this would’ve been a non-issue if people didn’t take the bait. As a side note, figure out your hosting situation - the complaint that started all of this was valid, just voiced in a manner that’s not acceptable. If your application requires an external file, that file better be downloadable without jumping through hoops, otherwise you’re making a non-functioning release.

Do you have answers......'cause i have the same questions ;)
I have,

Let the WiiU format the drive when inserted.
And after you download/instal games with NUSspli, they appear in the WiiU menu.
And you start/play them just from the menu, like normal installed games.
No loader needed.

I apologize if this is off-topic, but I had questions about the ticket or titlekey or whatever it is (sorry if my terminology is wrong).

Like for example. I own a game I bought on the eshop. If I deleted that for some reason, and redownloaded it with NUSspli instead for some reason, does it check for an existing ticket? Or does it overwrite the legitimate ticket with an illegitimate one?

What about update data? Do those have their own tickets separate from the game, like DLC? What about things free on the eshop?

It's my understanding that if I downloaded something I didn't own and later bought it on the eshop, I'd have to manually delete the fake ticket using homebrew applications if I wanted a legit ticket to use it without custom firmware running. Does that apply to free downloads from the eshop as well?

One more question, this time about disc tickets. If I have a fake ticket on the console from downloading the eshop version with NUSspli, would that cause problems trying to run a disc-based game? Either on actual disc or as an application installed with disc2app.

Also, are all tickets stored on the Wii U itself, regardless of where the game or app is installed? Like when I install games to the external hard drive, does the ticket install on Wii U or on the hard drive? And if it installs on the hard drive, does moving data between the hard drive and the Wii U delete the ticket from the source, or is the ticket on both now and has to be manually deleted? And if the ticket is on both, which ticket takes priority? And if all that is the case, is the ticket which takes priority based on where the game is installed, or is priority the same regardless of the game's location?

I'm sure some of these are stupid questions, I just wanna be thorough. I was downloading games I own because I want to put the discs in storage to save space and because the laser has had problems, but now I'm thinking maybe disc2app would've been better instead.

@leejaclane So many questions... Let me try to answer the best I can:

Tickets are stored on NAND (not even MLC but SLC), no matter where the game is installed to (except for discs as these aren't installed at all). Moving or deleting the game won't affect the ticket. So yes (to my understanding, I might be wrong here) when you had a legit game installed, then reinstall it with NUSspli, the legit ticket should be used.

For things free on the eShop (like updates) NUSspli does not create a fake ticket as the ticket is downloadable from the NUS. In other words: NUSspli creates a fake ticket in case it can't be downloaded only.

AFAIK a game started from disc will always read the ticket from the disc, too. I might be wrong on this but this is my understanding of the process and that's why I said "except for discs" above.

//EDIT:
but now I'm thinking maybe disc2app would've been better instead.
Why even care about that as long as you have a CFW (Tiramisu) installed?

actually, afaik, the fake ticket will move the legit ticket down in the ticket bucket, so it will have priority, at least based on my experiences. that was/is the purpose of the fake ticket deletion tutorial I made. I accidentally installed a fake ticked over lucadian chronicles, which caused it to fail when reinstalling through the eshop.

Thanks for the responses. So there's a ticket bucket then, and the legit ticket isn't erased but just moved down in the list? And a fake ticket will cause a game to fail to download or install when reinstalling it via eshop, even when using cfw?

And a disc-based game, regardless of whether it's a physical disc or one converted to an app, won't ever bother checking tickets on the console itself? I mean I know I'm restating your answers as questions, I just want to make sure I understand everything.

Follow-up question. What exactly happens when you try running a game with a fake ticket without custom firmware? Like, to V10lator's question about why I'd care if I have Tiramisu installed, if I took the SD card out to mess with files (say, when Aroma releases and I want to switch from Tiramisu), and someone else in my household started up the Wii U and tried to play a game with a fake ticket. Does it crash, freeze, give an error message, send an e-mail to Nintendo flagging these accounts... or would it brick the Wii U?

And in case for some reason I someday want to sell the Wii U, I know the process for removing the cfw completely, but what about fake tickets? I assume they, like real ones, would be erased when formatting the console's hard drive?

Mostly I plan on keeping things (in particular those downloaded with NUSspli, thanks for making the app, sad to see it be discontinued but it's understandable, these things happen) on my external hard drive, and only accessing the external hard drive while cfw is loaded. But it might be nice to have some stuff remain on the console, in case we move and the hard drive gets misplaced somehow, or someone wants to use Wii Fit U while I'm putting files on the SD card.

Hm. This post is kind of off-topic now. If I have more ticket questions I'll start a different thread or something.

You get an error message (IIRC 199-9999).

//EDIT: Switching from Tiramisu to Aroma will (most likely) be just adding some files to the SD card (the current exploit, payload loader and stuff will just be used: Everything not on the SD card is Aroma technology - They couldn't release Aroma cause of bugs but users where hyped so they decided to make Tiramisu. The boot process of Tiramisu/Aroma already allows for multiple environments/CFWs to get loaded (like multi-boot on a PC. Currently: The Installer and Tiramisu)). You can do this via FTP, so without removing the card, but even if you remove the card it would just take a few secs to copy the files.

This might sound off-topic at first, but bear with me. Is it normal when using Tiramisu for exiting Settings to put you into the standard Wii U firmware instead of back in Tiramisu? I feel like I'm only having this problem since replacing that Mocha file to use NUSspli v1.96, games I downloaded through NUSspli were giving me a message saying "This software cannot be used. The Nintendo Network ID used to purchase the software has been deleted. You need to purchase this software from the Nintendo eShop again to be able to use it." It took me trying to open the Homebrew Launcher and getting Mii Maker instead to realize what the problem was.

This is off-topic now, but is there some way to set up a signifier so I know when I'm in Tiramisu and when I'm not?

@leejaclane No, this isn't normal. Please update Tiramisu, also overwriting the experimental Mocha payload (redownload from https://tiramisu.foryour.cafe - extract the files to SD overwriting existing ones). In case that works please reply here, in case it's still the same issue ask for support at https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-tiramisu-environment-free-cbhc.605381 , please.

//EDIT: Note that this is a debugging step. NUSspli will not work / error out with the upstream Mocha payload, so don't report that, please.

This isn’t true, the fsa_caps branch got recently merged into the upstream MochaPayload, so it should work now
Good to know. My last info (from less than 24 hours ago) was that it will be released "soon". ;)

//EDIT: Still it looks like a pre-release, so probably not available at https://tiramisu.foryour.cafe yet.

Yes it indeed works, even if the project wasn't actively maintained but still hosted it would still work as all the files it pulls are from the NUS (Nintendo Update Servers) then it proceeds to install locally.
Is it like someone said basically pkgi for vita/ps3.
Possibly, but I can't give a comprehensive answer as I've never touched the PS3 scene. To sum it up what this tool does is takes information / files from the NUS Servers, downloads them to your system, and installs them into the proper format to open and play it on the WIi U. (This is horrendously over-simplified but you should get the idea) To put it even simpler it's basically the eShop without needing money.

I'm sorry to bother you for this. I have a question. I used NUSspli to download a game, Mario Party 10 in this case, but when I boot it up it freezes automatically. I have to forcefully turn off my Wii U. Am I doing something wrong?
