Some games like smash, risk of rain 2, Mario kart you can't just pause and close the game and reopen and it be there. I am looking for homebrew where I can just freeze certain points in games.
Could be possible but no one really have came up with any way of obtaining it. You have save tool like JKSV, and Checkpoint to go back to a previous save point if need, just no save state like available on VBA.
If such a homebrew existed, it would probably need to back up the entire memory area, which would make the save file size as large as 3.6G/4G.

It doesn't matter if its possible or not because its just too impractical. Save states work for older games because they're a lot smaller.
And also it is hard to achieve on running system without full documentation. Emulators do that with ease because they can freeze everything whenever they want. With savestates you need to replace everything while system is still running - including threads, registers, stacks, and count to that issue with aslr.
Just forget about it.

It's totally possible. The Dolphin Wii emulator has had this feature for literally years. It takes half a second to save the state and you can go back to it any time. The files are pretty small in the 10s of MBs of I remember correctly. I'd appreciate it if someone would actually look into this stuff instead of just deciding it's impossible.

Are you near sea/salt water, or in general they just don't last. Sounds like if you driving a mercedes, you need a garage. I get snow n ice here so nothing worse than clearing that shit off at 6am rushing to get to work. -
