Almost any time you give me an action game I'll finish it, but I haven't never beaten one of these. I don't hate them but they're too long and I get bored and put it down and play something else.

Elder Scrolls and Fallout series

I can tell these are cool games but never gotten really far into any of them. I think the way they handle the rpg elements are a turn off for me, but I've beaten my fair share of rpgs.

The Witcher. I have had the entire trilogy on my Steam library for years. I have heard they are great games and all, the setting definitely looks interesting enough for me, but for some reason they never seem to call for my name, Kek. Maybe one day, eventually.

None. If I can't get into a game series, it means I gave it a good & fair chance and I'm just not having fun. If I'm not having fun, that desire to WANT to get into it doesn't exist for me at all anymore.

Monster Hunter. Seems like such a cool and deep experience for people who get into it but I just bounce off of the controls and the general feeling of trying to understand the game and how to use the weapons. Maybe I need to try harder and git gud.

That's one for me too. I got about 10 hours into 3 though, but then got stuck on a boss and haven't played it again.

Pokémon. I’m sure it’s great. I tried some on the switch. Pokemon came out after I graduated high school. I’m sure it’s a great series, I wanted to like it, but it really has no appeal to me.

If you are going to start with pokemon I recommend starting from gen 1 something like FireRed / LeafGreen.

Elder Scrolls. I own 3 editions of Skyrim (OG, Special Edition, VR) despite not having played any of them for more than an hour. I really want to like it, but I just can't bring myself to play it, and I'm not sure why. I also own ESO, which I played a bit in beta but haven't touched since. Similar story with Oblivion, tried it out way back and couldn't bring myself to play it for more than an hour, but at least I can pinpoint exactly what I don't like about that game. It feels extremely dated, even for its time. Sure, Elder Scrolls has never been known for amazing graphics, but it's more than just that, the design and gameplay feels dated too and it has that lonely feeling to it that I hate in games.

I guess I just don't like open world games. At least that's what I thought, until I played Zelda BotW. I like games with a clear direction, and I like not spending more time on sidequests than the main story. I don't like The Witcher either but found it slightly more tolerable than Skyrim, if only slightly. But for some reason, I love Ark, which logically should be everything I hate about open world games (because there is no story (well not really, there's plenty of lore hidden in the game, and there are bosses, that's about it), there aren't even any sidequests, it's just a sandbox)

I think I also tried those on my GBA. I can give it another go. The reason I wanted to like them is for the RPG elements. I like RPGs and think my kids would like them.

With Pokemon games the older generation games are much better than current generation, I would recommend starting with gen 1 if don't want to try firered/leafgreen, try red/blue/yellow.

im a firm believer that videogames are meant for you to have fun and release stress. some people might like the challenge and thats fine, but me personally i like easy games not tryhard or get gut games like; Darksouls, bloodborne or time consuming games like minecraft, terraria, ark. those are games that i would like to play but is easier to go for a handheld and play some old good platforming game.

I think gen 1 is a poor example of "better than current generation" as it hasn't aged well at all, it was really barebones, the story really is the bare minimum, you just beeline from gym to gym and rarely does anything happen, very few required detours, and no side content to speak of. Gen 2 was a massive step up, with some interesting side content like the Unown hunt (although I wish they did more with that since you don't really get anything for completing it, it would've been a good place to put a legendary) and gen 3 was perfection (especially OR/AS, the Soar mechanic and new postgame just make an already great game even better). The main reason I prefer gen 3 over gen 2 I think is because the late game is so fun, there's a wealth of unique legendaries and solving the puzzles to get to them is a lot of fun, gen 3 just had the best legendaries. Whereas Kanto in gen 2 is rather empty and a bit of a letdown after Johto being so good.
But I could agree that gen 1 is a good place to start, since starting with gen 2 or 3 and going back to gen 1 later will probably make gen 1 feel like a huge letdown. I loved gen 1 as a kid when it was all I had, but it was clear when gen 2 released that gen 1 really was just a prototype of things to come.

Even though I have played every single main line pokemon games, I just think older gen pokemon games like gen 2/3/4 are much better than current gen.

I'm kinda the opposite in that regard. There is just something unexplainable in the rush of a game giving you the hardest time of your life lol. Platformers are often the ones to blame on that, for me at the very least

(Anyone reading this, play Celeste)

Warhammer 40K. I know some people that are really into it, and I envy how much passion they have. I wouldn't know where to start, and I don't have the time to get up to speed.

I feel left out and lonely. No one invited me to the war/apocalypse.

Honorable Mentions:
Assassin's Creed: Tons of entries, all open world, and they're Ubisoft collect-a-thons.
Shin Megami Tensei: Tons of entries, all JRPG's. At least I have a few Persona's under my belt.

EDIT:
New zeldas
This too. Just the BotW/TotK duo, but that'll compound if the sequels intend to be the same open world formula.

Visual Novels 📚

Absolutely love me a good read but for some reason I just can't get into any of the series I see. I know a lot deal with romance stuff but would like to ease my way in somewhere 😞

Valorant. Looks fun, but I aint rebooting my pc everytime I want to play because the anti-cheat has to be running from boot/all the time, so if you close it when not playing, the game will insist you reboot before playing.

Kingdom Hearts. Tried multiple times, there's just something that doesn't click with me, dunno why.
