Okay, so get this. I liked the first Sonic The Hedgehog movie. Problem is, it absolutely cannot be topped. At all. It just doesn't get better than this.

The second first movie was pretty good too, though.
Despite having some very well-known production issues (you already know) it was a fun movie that had an enjoyable take on Sonic placed in a different universe. I definitely enjoy me a unique take on the hedgehog, and don't demand it stay exactly like the games or anything, so I didn't find myself minding the redesigned look or the presence of human characters or anything like that.

So yeah! Sonic 2 came out recently. It's the second movie! The first second movie. (But it's second to the second first movie, not the first first movie. Confused yet?)
Anyways, Sonic 2 is pretty awesome. It's much more "Sonic" than the first movie, and while I didn't hate the human parts like everyone else did, it's a more than welcome change of pace. Introducing Tails and Knuckles added a lot to the movie, Knuckles' characterization here works super well too. Robotnik's still great. Agent Stone is also great, I love how he's basically just canonically gay for Robotnik, it's amazing. Seeing game staples was cool too.
Honestly at the end of the day I think I'm just amazed a bad looking movie turned around into something genuinely enjoyable. That's just awesome. It's a good time to be a Sonic fan.
