Some files can't be uploaded due to the file extension filter.

While I don't expect that .bin files could be uploaded raw in a reply, I ask to please add .firm to the Download Center filter list.

Why is there an upload whitelist? I understand that things like .exe pose a security risk, but why is .bin or .firm banned?

Can you not just zip files that are filtered? Could be a whitelist to encourage people to use compressed formats and therefore save space. Just speculation on my part though.

It does reduce the file size from 81k to 42k, though I don't get why .3dsx is in the whitelist, as .3dsx are much bigger, and it's not encrypted or compressed, so it would be an even better candidate for enforced compression.
For .cia I understand why it's in the whitelist, it's encrypted and/or compressed, so compressing it just adds extra steps for nothing.

Also I'd rather upload the .firm raw, as I'm *begging* users to run it, so having to go through extra steps greatly reduces my chances :/
For those cases where the user *needs* the file, they will do almost everything to get it, so there it makes sense.

This is still a problem :(

I'm now trying to upload a Game Boy game patch in .asm format, and it's not accepted.
Do I *really* have to .zip a 138-BYTE file?
The compressed .zip of 245 bytes definitely doesn't save space in this case...

Edit: seriously, .txt is not whitelisted either?
Edit 2: WHY IS .ZIP NOT WHITELISTED :hateit:
Edit 3: oh my god, the two "Attach files" buttons always bamboozle me. Now I kind of get how the average computer user falls for fake download buttons... Still missing .asm from the whitelist though.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
