Since Daedalus will never happen for the Vita it would be nice to be able to run N64 games natively with the extra power that the vita offers instead of being locked down to only P.S.P Emu Limitations. By the way it's open source so here's a link to the GitHub if anyone's interested. https://github.com/mupen64plus

It uses OpenGL render so... nothing for Vita. ;)
Damn... I never really thought about that. Well no wonder it hasn't been ported.
That means someone will have to build something from the ground up unless of course by some miracle Daedalus magically comes back from the dead. But of course due to the use of MIPS they would have to do a lot of work.

Someone is already porting muphen64 RA to vita.
Daedalus is not possibile because it is heavily optimizied for psp, so there s no point on using it( also outdated code).
We only have to wait, but do not expect full speed or no graphics glitches.
It does not work well on shield devices, it will never be bug free on ps vita.
Maybe if vita will get a vulkan driver Lol

The reason the Mupen64 Libretro core hasn't ported it the 3DS is because of the OGL renderer, so the same would apply to the Vita for now.

I don't think Mupen has a software renderer.

No point on compailing it.
As the commits say you can only open the gui.
No rom loading

Unless you want to contribute

Port the draw routines, you don't need to write a GLES3 driver.

Porting the draw routines would mean creating a brand new emulator from the ground up, which would include writing a new gl driver for the vita cpu anyways. Doesnt seem efficient.

Furthermore, both the n64 and Mupen psp ran native code for a MIPS processor, while the vita has an ARM.

Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.

I'm designing my own entertainment cabinet for my man cave, to store all my systems, then I'm also designing a power supply/HDMI switcher so I can switch to whichever system I want, and power it also. Already picked up the cabinet board, but tinkering with my drawings before start
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
But yea, I have frogger arcade cabinet that I gutted and put a Pi4 then Pi5 into, but it never gets played much anymore, should sell it. Even when the kids come over, they don't want to play on it, just the xbox. TMNT and Simpson's arcade is still so fun on it, esp w 2 players.
