So in the last days i was trying hard to find and archive some good old versions of official LibRetro's RetroArch Wii (which is the multi-system emulator RetroArch ported to Nintendo Wii).

Since i noticed that newer versions of vanilla RetroArch Wii are now "trash", "useless", "broken", "garbage", "junk", etc... I decided to pick up by myself most old versions of RA Wii.

Special thanks goes to my friends @RunningSnakes and @rogerioronin (from the Brazilian blog MundoWiiHACK) for having stored these old versions, which these have the luck of having them archived anywhere on the Internet, since on the Libretro Buildbot they don't have these old versions anymore.
Also thanks to the archiving websites Internet Archive and Wayback Machine for having some old versions archived on the net.

If you want to check these old versions, download and try them on your Wii, here's a folder with these: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1TVHDMOqsJIpRcyNO3D-Pd8z3KzvxL_Jw
A mirror link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/fa47ygavs06s3

Enjoy!!! :D

I've tested the last 2 RA from the official release but HID USB controllers seem don't work on them. Do HID work on older versions?

@freda I don't know.
Maybe my friends know if HID USB controllers work?
Maybe you need to try RA-HEXAECO (RetroArch Wii mod made by SuperrSonic)?

Doesn't work for me. Won't even load at all.
The meta.xml is still corrupted, even with latest releases.
Please edit the meta.xml with Notepad and replace all its text with this fixed meta.xml: (for RA Wii 1.10.1)

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<app version="1">
<name>RetroArch Wii</name>
<coder>Libretro</coder>
<version>1.10.1</version>
<release_date>20210305</release_date>
<short_description>cross-platform</short_description>
<long_description>A port of RetroArch to the GameCube/Wii.</long_description>
<ahb_access/>
<no_ios_reload/>
</app>

Then save the changes made to the meta.xml and see if this work for you.

Hope this help ;)

That didn't work. I'm not sure, but it seemed like it took a few more seconds before it returned to the homebrew loader. If you have any other suggestions, I would be eager to try them.

Yeah... about 1.10.1

Tested it yesterday while phone was charging:
FBalpha core doesn't work
GENESISPLUSGX core doesn't work.
GPSP core doesn't work.
MAME2010 core doesn't work with some roms.
SNES9X/SNES9X 2002/SNES9X 2005 has issues.

Well, the only thing I could think to try was to plug in an SD card, as some homebrew only supports that, and not the USB drive that I usually use. When I did that, the system froze on a black screen. So I figured I was on the right track, and copied Retroarch onto the SD card. That did the trick. It won't load from a USB drive.

    I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

    Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
    and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

    That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
