Hey,

So lately I have been converting many of my MKV files to MP4. Now, I've come to the point where I can either use a DVD, or an external HDD, to play these MP4 files on my DVD player.

For ease of use, I plan to use the HDD to play the MP4 files, however for the videos I am more likely to utilise I also plan on burning the MP4 files to DVDs.

Currently, I have 11 MP4 files totalling 2.08 GB of data. Given a standard DVD is over 4.5 GB, I have decided it might be a good idea to burn these files to a DVD.

I was wondering, is it possible to burn all of these MP4 files to a single DVD? If so, what program is recommended to achieve this?

Hopefully someone can help me out :)

Thanks.

I will say if you can try to find the manual- we have had DVD players capable of doing such things for a while now and some of the earlier ones can want things in certain formats.

Other than that if IMGburn can not do it then I will be quite shocked.

you usually do not want an optical medium for jobs of this kind,
think of a small scratch on the disc: your player will try to read that sector again, and again, and again
and the video will start to skip

I've got a question.

If I do use ImgBurn to burn the MP4 files as DATA to a disk, will it be playable on my DVD player?

If not, is there any way to convert all the files (2.08 GB) to a single DVD format that is then playable?

2 gigabytes is probably a few hours of footage depending on what you have in the MP4 files and more than the DVD spec works that well with (rule of thumb is two hours for a single layer and four for a dual layer although it works well enough up to three or six hours respectively as long as you do not have lots of action and equivalent shots). I am not sure if there is a suggested simple DVD maker this days but dvdflick http://www.dvdflick.net/ , avstoDVD http://forum.doom9.o...ad.php?t=126647 , FAVC ( http://forum.doom9.o...ad.php?t=106677 ) and devede http://www.majorsilence.com/devede/ are ones I usually give to clients to choose from that want the ability to burn simple DVDs.

As for the data disc that is why I pointed you towards you manual- some players want things named a certain way (or 8:3 or something) in certain folders using a disc burned a given way (you have iso 9660 and UDF and hybrid all with various flavours that some older players choke on) where others will treat it like you would a USB drive and allow you to browse right to it regardless of everything else and attempt to play it. Generally the newer ones are better but there are surprises and often from the bigger brands (cheap noname Chinese players are often pretty good). Equally MP4 sees fairly wide ranges of use (it can hold divx/xvid which your player should be good with and it can hold H264 which I can quite easily see it not being compatible with) as it can handle a lot (except proper subtitles) so I would suggest you make sure your player can handle what you have.
