Hardware Does the Launch PS5 have specific hardware to run PS4 games? (In case PS5 Slim isn't BC)

That happened with PS3 as the later models (PS3 Slim and PS3 Super Slim) weren't compatible anymore with PS2 games, although they still were with PS1 games. IIRC, in U.S/Canada the Launch PS3 consoles used PS2 hardware, but in EUR/AUS it was emulated, I think? Not sure anymore.

Backwards compatibility is more or less a given. Consoles now are more equivalent to PC’s than ever, so it’s mostly like upgrading a CPU and graphics card.

There’s bound to be some incompatibility due to some other smaller custom chips and firmware. But not much.

It’s not like the old days when it was completely new, custom designed silicon for each generation.
