The latest version of DOSBox-X (0.83.5) has been recently released. DOSBox-X is a cross-platform DOS emulator originally based on DOSBox, but by now it has so many added features that do not exist in DOSBox or other forks. Some of its unique features are listed here:

DOSBox-X's Feature Highlights

This new version (0.83.5) has quite a few improvements over the previous version, such as major improvements to the save & load state feature (e.g. there are now 100 save slots available), support for Glide wrapper (in addition to internal Voodoo emulation), support for program quick launch feature on the Windows platform, improvement to the mounting features and the Windows installer, and new menu items for a few useful functionalities, plus many more.

Meanwhile, there is another exciting news - the redesigned DOSBox-X homepage has been launched. You can now find more information about DOSBox-X and directly download the DOSBox-X 0.83.5 packages for your platform (Windows, Linux, macOS, or DOS) from the DOSBox-X homepage:

http://dosbox-x.com/

For example, if you use Windows the installer is available from: Download Windows installer

And the release notes for DOSBox-X 0.83.5 is available from:

https://dosbox-x.com/release-0.83.5.html

P.S. The DOSBox-X user guide is available from the online Wiki:

That looks like an awful website to be honest... not even in the DOS style?

Are you sure? To be honest this is my very first time to hear such a feedback so far. Users from elsewhere seem to like it. DOSBox-X aims to be a cross-platform and all-in-one DOS emulation package, including everything (both text-mode and graphical software) in the DOS and Windows 3.x/9x scenes, not just the text-mode DOS interface.

There is a "Help" button located in the left side of this page, correct? It will display help information for the selections shown in the page if you click that button. In any case, if you are not sure which one to choose you can just leave the selection unmodified, as the Setup already pre-selects one for your system automatically.

On the series s/x you can use a external HD but any next gen games must be on your internal ssd, or you can buy a ssd expansion card, but pricey. Any xbone, 360, or og Xbox games can be played from external tho.
