No. Vista is a perfectly okay OS. People just got a bad impression because manufacturers back then were building crappy computers that ran ok with XP but sucked with Vista's higher requirements.
Here are Vista's requirements:
1 gigahertz (GHz) 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) of system memory (512 megabytes (MB) for Home Basic)
40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space (20 GB for Home Basic)
Did your computer have 1GB of free RAM and 15GBs of space back in 2006? These requirements were more acceptable when Windows 7 came out.
