Finally, the speculation storm has ended, or has it? The Gateway Team finally released a video demonstrating the use of the Gateway 3DS on a recent model of the Nintendo 3DS, confirming that they are about to enable support for recent 3DS firmwares.

Hello.

I have just spent and hour and a half of my free time cleaning up this thread. Not only do I now have a personal record high for mod actions this month, I have removed over 19 pages of pure garbage. You are still welcome to post here if it is legit news, questions, or other things directly related to the 9.2 Gateway update.

Posts about:
-hype
-trains
-waiting
-name calling
-off topic
-congratulating me on cleaning this dump up
-counting pages
-complaining about waiting
-anything else I or the rest of the staff deems remove-worthy

will be removed, as will your privileges to post or view this topic. I am personally watching this thread for new posts, and have tapatalk alerts sent to my phone. You have been warned.

Ladies and gentlemen, as they say.. a picture speaks a thousand words! That must mean a video speaks a few million words, right? Without further ado, today we show you Gateway 3DS working on the New Nintendo 3DS.

Wow, that's actually a very interesting video. First things first, a few things: This is definitely a kernel exploit, or a very deep userland exploit, especially considering that they have the multirom selection in there as well as .cia support. And since they said it wouldn't require a host game, there's a very good chance for some good stuff to come out of this even outside of GW. For one, a kernel exploit might mean emuNand support past 10.x, which is huge. There probably is though, a sort of catch here since they still did say to stay on 4.5. It could either mean missing features at this point, or it could mean that they didn't want everyone upgrading too early and having complaints about people updating and having no 9.x support. Still huge though.

They have kernel access. There is no doubt about it. They just didn't want people to update because they don't want to be pestered about when they are going to release it

I bet they won't release this update until the rest of the world got the New3DS system. I mean... that market share will be huge!

I'm personally pretty hyped about this though, especially if it's a kernel exploit. I was getting worried about that upcoming update and not being able to play Smash online or locally anymore, but I might be able to get emuNand and not worry no longer!

There is absolutely no way this is anything but a kernel exploit. Don't worry, it will definitely have emunand :)

Doubt it. No one even knows when the N3DS is even coming out in America/Europe. There's already a huge installbase for this new flashcard because as of right now it works on every single 3DS out there if it's upgraded to the current highest FW.

Yea but to play the next gen games, you must have those games on internal, or buy the official ssd expansion cards, which are expensive
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, dunno what each one of those are

A surge protector is a device that protects your electronics from fluctuations. I recommend having your console plugged into one of those
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
An UPS is even better because it has an internal battery that keeps your system on even if the power goes out, but it's much more expensive obviously
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, oh i recall seeing one in some in the houses of some relatives, including my dad's apartment

On the series s/x you can use a external HD but any next gen games must be on your internal ssd, or you can buy a ssd expansion card, but pricey. Any xbone, 360, or og Xbox games can be played from external tho.
