Hi guys. I have a DS that was recently dropped. The on/off switch is broken from the inside and won't turn on the DS. Is there an alternative way to turn on a DS without the on/off switch?

I doubt it.

You might just have to repair it. Or send it into Nintendo to see what they can do.

Darn. I knew I would have to eventually send it to Nintendo. Don't have $50.00 to spend on repairing a DS.

Maybe, you can just open the DS up and remove the power button and replace it with something similar.
Or, remove the power button and keep it open so that you can directly switch it on using the metal part and use tape so that dust doesn't get in.

If you unscrew the bottom part of the ds and desolder the power switch, and then solder some wires (I'll post a picture soon). Than you can put on your DS by holding two wires together (like I did for a month, and then decided to build in a new powerswitch).

This can easily be fixed, depending on which bit is actually broken. If it's just the outer slider part that has broken, you can ust get a custom case which will include one, take the DS apart, replace, easy. However the more probable outcome was that the switch on the board was broken, which would require you to open the DS, desolder it, and solder a new one on. On the bright side, they're about $2.

I'm pretty sure it's the switch on the board. When I shake the DS, you can hear a loose bit inside.

Does the power slider slide loosly, or does it feel the same and just not function?

If it's loose, the little stick on the switch that's on the board has broken, and you'll need to replace it.
