Hacking Has anyone burned SSBB NTSC DVD9 on a DVD-R DL disc?

Hey I was going to dump my copy of brawl and burn it on a dvd-r dl disc. I was wondering if anyone ever tried burning the dvd9 version of brawl (ie not turning it into a dvd 5 version) on a DVD-R DL disc and got it to work without problems.

I burnt a dvd9 copy no problems, and it has worked no bother with WiiGators 0.3g, other than than the occasional lockup whilst the startup video is playing. Bare in mind this copy is decrypted, and i havent tried a clean 1:1.

Just incase it matters, the Disk i used was a Verbatim DVD-R DL.

For what its worth, I burned it onto a DVD5 and no issues.

I burned a 1:1 onto a Memorex DL disc.

No problems playing. I too have the occasional lockup when the startup videos play, but pressing start gets right by that. Other than that, game plays perfectly.

SSBB onto verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x with layer break worked for me

HOw did you burn the disc exactly? I have a modified firmware on my drive, its an NEC 3520a running liggy and dee's custom firmware 2.5U. I was about to just let the image burn since they say for DVD -R DL disc the book type is already set on the disc. I notice in ImgBurn the disc gets picked up as a DVD-R DL but below it says Book Type: DVD-R.

edit: I went ahead and tried to burn the file but I kept getting a message saying imgburn couldn't get lock the drive for exclusive access or something ....

edit edit: Wow near perfect (slightly longer loading time it seems, and the data options don't work like the movie viewer gives a disc read error) copy! no video stuttering AT ALL! PERIOD! Burned the game (1:1 copy) at 4x on a verbatim DVD-R DL disc using img burn (no setting changed other then setting the write speed at 4x) on my NEC 3520a burning with liggy and dee's custom firmware 2.5u. The wii drive even seems to make less noise then other disc!

If i remember correctly IMGBurn couldnt burn my DVD9 copy of SSBB correctly so i eneded up using Blindwrite which worked fine. To be more specific i was burning on Memorex DVD-R DL with the NTSC US copy of the iso released by Wiizard.

The disc channel doesn't but the backup loader HBC and wii custom channel (that you would install) does.

I couldn't at first either for some reason IMGburn told me it couldn't lock the drive or something (might have something to do with daemon tools). So I had to restart, after restarting it burned fine.
