Homebrew demo Retro League GX "demakes" Rocket League for the Nintendo GameCube

While you've been able to play Rocket League for the Nintendo Switch for a while now, a new homebrew is going to let you get a similar experience...on the Nintendo GameCube. A developer has released their demo for Retro League GX, a homebrew game that aims to "demake" Rocket League, but on the retro GameCube. It takes the core concepts from Rocket League, such as boost, car and soccer ball physics, and goals, all in early 2000's graphical glory. Currently, the demo lets you fight against AI teams, but the developer intends to implement LAN multiplayer, with future plans for ports to other platforms, such as the Nintendo 3DS, the Nintendo Wii, and the PlayStation Portable, with the source code to be released sometime in 2022. Retro League GX is playable via original hardware or Dolphin.

This is soo cool but it will be most likely be taken down.
There are like 10 million Rocket League clones on App Store and Google Play. Some of them have been there for 5-6 years, like this:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ri.rocketleague

Or this:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digitalpixelproductions.rocketball

And it's not like if Rocket League has been something original. Soccer games with vehicles have been there for decades:

Probably a dumb question, but can I run GameCube homebrew on a Wii or vWii? I'd think you can, but I'm not entirely sure. I found this, https://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Gamecube_Homebrew_Launcher but it says it's dangerous as it alters the MIOS, and I specifically want to play this on a vWii of a Wii U, which makes me extra concerned about altering something like the MIOS on the system as I'm not sure if it's structured the same. Plus I have a feeling this is outdated anyway, I would think there would be a way to load GameCube homebrew via Nintendont, is that possible?

This is automatically inherently better than the actual Rocket League because it snips the lame hardcore-competitive-epic-gamer type of junk out of the original and leaves it as simply "fun soccer with cars"

You know there are casual modes in Rocket League right? People for the most part are pretty chill there too.

I doubt so - making homebrew games from scratch is not illegal in most jurisdictions, and while the game clearly mimics Rocket League, Epic Games cannot sue someone for repeating a game concept either.

Just play casual modes, there's a lot of chill in it. For example, "Rumble Mode" goes full Mario Kart on the RL meta by adding in randomized items.

GBAtemp should be legally obligated to ban them, as its against the law to collect information from users under 13 because of COPPA. :tpi:

Back when Oculus Rift was still starting out and being demoed around, they modded existing games to use it as a 360° immersive screen thing and that was AMAZING.

The tech isn't there for affordable power enough VR headsets at a good market value yet sadly, oculus had a good idea but didn't have enough funds for marketing iirc

The tech to have quality VR goggles at an affordable price is here, but every set has to have 4 additional controllers and be standalone.

These are the same type of gamers that spend $2,000 on a GPU when a $600 GPU gives nearly the same outcome which is what the market looks at for them to do spend more on unneeded bs

If we're talking AAA titles a vr headset would be priced at nearly the same cost as a midrange gaming pc maybe even double
