Game Name: Ore no Shikabane wo Koete Yuke (俺の屍を越えてゆけ) (Oreshika 1, the one recently released on Vita is actually Oreshika 2 in Japan)
Developer/Publisher: Alpha System/SCEI
Release: 11/10/11
Genre: RPG
Does it have lots of text?
It is an RPG so I assume there is plenty. I have also heard that it is written in a more mature and complex Japanese than most games. This would probably be a very challenging game to translate.
Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
The only publisher still working on PSP games (Gaijinworks) has stated that the Minimum Guarantee for the title is too high and it poses a too great risk. Sony ain't gonna publish a Japanese PSP game at this point either.
What is it about?
The game is a Japanese RPG with many very unique elements. You play the son of a legendary hero who has been cursed to age much faster by a demon, only giving you a couple of more years to live. The gods have taken pity on you and allow you to have offspring, sadly all bearing the same curse. The only way to break the curse is to slay the demon who cast it upon you and it's your job to breed and manage your offspring to be ready to combat him.
The game features gorgeous watercolour graphics, dungeons, combat with an interesting magic system, multiple classes, planning future generations and increasing their power, finding deities to bear your offspring, town building, time management and much more so it would be a shame if all of the western world would miss out on it. These complex systems also makes the game very difficult to play without extensive Japanese knowledge.
The sequel just came out on the Vita and I have been playing it non stop and it's very addictive. In Japan, the PSP game is seen as the better one.
Popularity in Japan:
It's a remake of a PS1 game seen as a cult classic and the PSP game had an opening week with 94k+ sales in Japan which is good for a JRPG.

Why I think it needs to be translated?
It's a remake of a cult classic PS1 game and this was its last chance. Games usually only get one remake and this was it. The game also features some complex mechanics which makes it impossible to play without either extensive Japanese knowledge or a fan translation. It also saw a Vita sequel released in the west which is getting a good reception. I think many people would love to play this one too.
What I can do to help:
Apart from expressing my eternal gratitude, not much sadly. I'm absolutely willing to go through English text looking for mistakes but my level of Japanese is beginner and I'm not a programmer.
