OK, so I've got a non-slim 360 and since I bought it all those years ago I've been happy with the 20gb HDD that came with it - just installing the game I'm playing at the moment along with updates etc. Now BF3 and the texture pack have filled it to capacity and I've asked Santa for a fair few games for Christmas so I want to upgrade it to a 250gb. When I last looked into it, play.com were selling official 250gb ones for £60. Back in May, Asda were selling them for £30. Now the cheapest I can find are £100-£130. I could buy a new fucking Xbox for that! Even the fake ones (which I don't particularly want to deal with) are £75, while the genuine slim 250gb drives are going for about £60.

Did they just stop making them and they've become collectors items or what?

Since you can take an old 360 drive apart, and put that in the slim, maybe you can do it in reverse to?
Buy a cheaper, slim drive, open it up and swap it into the old 360 hard drive case/connector?

*edit* bah Devin beat me to it lol.
