Hacking how to delete cfw from a very outdated 3ds

hello! a friend recently gave me their modded 3ds where all cfw doesn't work. I've spent the past few hours trying to sort out this headache and update everything but it just doesn't seem to work? I'm not tech-savvy at all so I really don't understand this stuff... basically the luma updater is on v 6.6 (?) according to the menu and godmode9 will not load when turning on the system and pressing the start button.

I've been following the thread by anormalearthlyman (sorry it won't let me add the link) tutorial and adding newer versions to everything listed as I've been going but when I get to section III of the finalizing guide Rosalina will not start with the L+down+select combo in the play app thing. At this point I'm just a little frustrated and I feel like I want to just get rid of all CFW and possibly start over with it following a real step by step guide, but unfortunately, I can't because I can't open Rosalina or godmode9

for reference here is a current screenshot of the SD card, exactly as it was when I got it yesterday minus the newer updated files.

If there is any way to salvage this at all I'd love the help, but preferably be noob friendly... I feel like a baby when it comes to this stuff so that should give you an estimate on how much I actually understand here lol
