Oh, and I can keep reusing my existing StreetPasses over and over as long as I keep a backup of my CECD and overwrite my existing one with that every time I exhaust the transmissions. This is something everyone can do for a few extra until we get a new relay system up.

I know that there is also https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-reuse-miis-in-streetpass-mii-plaza.468337/ if it helps to explain the process for reusing mii's

I actually wrote up something about Mii Plaza saves in my 3DShacks Guide. The method you linked deals with backing up the current system save data for the plaza games as well as the current meeting data (StreetPasses that have already been transferred from the CECD), playing, then restoring the meeting data. The author didn't realize the duplicate files were for standard redundancy (pretty much every console save file in existence has redundancy built in); they also believe in the shotgun approach and just replace all system files except for the obviously named game files. The method is a bit more complicated and only works for the Mii Plaza as other games, by and large, transfer CECD transmissions directly into said games save files instead of into a separate meeting data file. My method just has you copying your CECD file whenever you want to reset the transmissions available across all games you've set up to StreetPass.

Just wanna know if this still works? I heard rumours they are shutting the StreetPass relay system down, can someone confirm, please?

Like I said on the previous page, it is down, as of March 28th 2018. Nintendo shut down the central server that ran this whole thing. Solutions have been suggested in this thread, but so far nobody has set up something easy to use without actual StreetPasses, and you need CFW for what we do have as an option.

But is this still working?

If a new relay system is able to be set up in the future (and I hope that it is because I live in the middle of rural Nowhere and never come across another human 3ds owner), would this be a "simulated" exchange or would it be where users could actually transfer data between themselves just like out in the wild? For example, my girlfriend plays "Tomodachi Life". Her people are able to travel to other islands and other islanders can visit her's via Street Pass transfers. That would necessitate a real transaction and not just a faked event. Or maybe I misunderstood what I read - which is highly likely.

You would need ppl to set up actual relay points around the city or world for that. It would be simulated as by your pc how it was done before. But I havent heard nothing on if this is even possible yet

I don't think we're gonna get to the point where we can have our consoles act like they are passing one another in the wild. Right now, the best we can do is exchange CECD files that contain the transmissions that we desire. I do not have a CECD with Tomodachi, btw.

Simulated, copying data files between systems manually, and only data we have received, not our own data that our system would put out with a StreetPass. So those of us with 2 systems we can register games to to pass ourselves are the only easy source of new Streetpasses for specific games.

Cecil released something new this week as well:

https://www.reddit.com/r/3dshacks/comments/a7qh8n/streetpass_2_rise_from_the_ashes/

At least one developer is looking at programming something to make this easier to do, and may be able to pick individual games out of the file, or mix transmissions from multiple files together. This is still a fresh project, just getting started, so hopefully it will get better. Anyone that can contribute transmission dumps to this is welcome to, and the more games we have transmissions for, the better.

Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.

I'm designing my own entertainment cabinet for my man cave, to store all my systems, then I'm also designing a power supply/HDMI switcher so I can switch to whichever system I want, and power it also. Already picked up the cabinet board, but tinkering with my drawings before start
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
But yea, I have frogger arcade cabinet that I gutted and put a Pi4 then Pi5 into, but it never gets played much anymore, should sell it. Even when the kids come over, they don't want to play on it, just the xbox. TMNT and Simpson's arcade is still so fun on it, esp w 2 players.
