Didn't know WiiMC would open .iso files (despite playing most SD quality media files).

Funny enough WiiMC will also play real DVDs – not only from the internal drive (if old enough), but also from external USB DVD drive.

If you're on a PC, why on earth would you play a DVD iso file using dolphin?
It does sound like an interesting idea. Running a Wii emulator on PC executing homebrew software for media playback using a virtual DVD.
20 detours and you got a headache when finally arriving.

Who is still watching dvd's now days?
I do. And (S)VCD. And VHS.
Hell, anything is better than signing up on various streaming providers with huge monthly costs to have nothing in your hands.
Condescending snobs "who have left behind the 200x years" are giving away their DVD/BD collection for pennies (next year probably for almost nothing)… because "Who is still watching DVDs?" → :rofl2:

Easy opportunity to get lots and lots and lots of movies/series for creating your own digital archive, independent from any polluted online service.

same. recently got a PS3 and started building my Blu-Ray collection. also began watching DVDs again and I don't remember the quality looking this decent.
I didn't even realize the resolution of DVD until I pulled it up on my monitor literally a foot away from me.

I don't even no anyone who owns a 4K display yet so.
Really? In 2023? In America? Like no joke, I don't think anyone in any of my friends and family circles have anything less than a 4K display for their main television. 4K has now become the modern standard (At least as far as I perceive everything), much in the same way that maybe 5 or so years into it's life, HD televisions became most common TV that people owned over SD televisions back in the day.

I mean we all have flatscreens that are 1080p or so but no nothing past that really.

I mean I'm in the US but I don't exactly watch TV much so I'm still using an early flatscreen from 10 years ago.
I'm from The Netherlands, I also don't watch that much TV. I game or stream content form my server. But I still have some dvd movies, because there are not release yet on bluray.

Not me. Better option would be to slap a bunch of movies onto an SD card and watch them from there.
Or far better option (in my case), a totally filled NAS and use 3 Kodi streamers (Raspberry Pi based) to stream my movies and shows 😉

Blurays are large enough. I wouldn't even want to consider storing 4k blurays.

I'm so pumped, NCAA football video game is back after a 10 year hiatus, coming to SeriesS/X, PS5 in July.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Wish they would let us play the NCAA football 14 on newer xbox, its one of the only games I love and own on disc still, that is not back compatible, bs.

@BigOnYa My dad recently bought a spare Series X off of me, got game pass, and saw Madden '24 on Game Pass, decided to try it out.

...He was a bit taken aback by the 60GB download size. Poor guy's still living in the 90s!

  • AdenTheThird @ AdenTheThird:
@K3Nv2 He was looking into consoles for his house anyway (for my younger siblings and himself) and I had a spare XSX and Switch I ended up selling him at pretty steep cuts. I would just give them to him, but I did buy them with the intent to sell them... and college is super expensive.
