Hardware Homebrew If a mosfet is connected properly, but the CLK, RST, CMD or DAT0 aren’t, should the switch boot normally or not?

I am trying to install picofly on my switch lite and I’m trying to install the mosfet on the rear of the console, but I don’t have the resistors rn so I didn’t connect CLK, CMD and DAT0. Though, my Switch still boots normally when I power it on, while the RP2040 shows the error for the not connected cables. Is this normal or did I do something wrong in the install of the mosfet?

Are they a rare series of resistor or precision for them? If it is even vaguely normal just find the box of junk and pull from those. Also if you are ordering things then maybe get a few more than you need -- assuming this is not a I sneezed and it went shooting off somewhere scenario then assume you will be in the scenario so spend the few extra pennies most resistors go for (likely shipping is more).

I don't know the answer to the question and have my doubts if anybody would. This is the sort of thing you probably want to puzzle out by yourself -- what does the mosfet do, and do its inherent characteristics being the main two avenues.

What does it do being things like is there to pull something high or low. Inherent characteristics being it is not an ideal transistor so will inherently have some resistance. Does said resistance (gate to drain and source to drain to be considered) add too much draw for the baseline setup?

It does a clicking sound and Windows doesn't recognize it
  • mthrnite @ mthrnite:
clicking = bad, i'd still try it on a linux box or a mac, out of desperation
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Do you recommend any way to back up?
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
I will keep trying, but that clicking sound seems like the moving parts are stuck or something
  • mthrnite @ mthrnite:
i use a mac, so I just leave time machine running, not real sure how to back up on a windows box

I had a weird thought, Sega with the Saturn it was a train wreck a pile of chips, but it does kind of fit the design philosophy of Sega at the time.... The Genesis/Sega CD/32X machine was probably loads of fun to program for
