Hi there! Today a partner bring me a psp go! apparently without any hacks. I uploaded it from 6.60 to 6.61. Can I make it permanent with this tutorial? Or wich tutorial should I follow?
Thanks in advance.
It depends on which PSP model you have. If it supports cIPL, go with that. If it doesn't, go with the Infinity method. If neither method is compatible, use Fast Recovery from the (L)CFW.

Sorry for newb question, but does the infinity custom firmware do any damage from excessive kernal usage to PSP hardware like battery, or maybe even lcd screen?

No. Infinity is a FrankenFirmware. It is essentially 6.61 OFW with parts of 6.31 OFW, allowing for a permanent CFW exploit. It is just as safe as running OFW.

Hi. I have a PSP 3000 on 6.60 Firmware, and it uses a non permanent CFW 6.60 PRO-B9. Looks like it is Model 04g. If I want to install that Infinity CFW, which steps should I follow from now on? Do I have to uninstall something before updating to OFW 6.61?

The simpler setup you have, the less chance for errors. I suggest reformatting your memory card so that it's empty, update to 6.61, and then start the tutorial.

Hi there. I lost my old PSP 1000 and have since purchased a PSP GO on OFW 6.60. I use to use release_660lme CFW a few years ago, worked fine. It seems as if when I loaded Infinity 6.61 PRO-C firmware on it recently, many of my emulators stopped working. Which CFW would be the most compatible for all the great old emulators I want to use? Of course I want to be able to play PSP and PS1 isos/csos as well, please advise and keep it simple, I'm an elder gamer (60 yrs old, my avatar is my baby pic!) but I'm still pretty sharp and follow directions well! Thanks in advance for your patience!

Download and extract the latest version from the releases on this github page. Copy the PSP folder from the extracted output to your memory stick. You will need the firmware update for version you wish to downgrade to. If you want to downgrade to 6.20, you will need the 6.20 official update. If you're downgrading a PSPgo, make sure you download the official firmware appropriate for that device.

Copy the official firmware update to PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP on your memory stick. If you're using a PSPgo, make sure this copied to the internal storage instead. The downgrader is "signed", and can be launched without having a custom firmware installed. Once you run the application, follow the on-screen instructions.

If you want to use Infinity and have a Pause feature, use PSPStates, which has 9 save states instead of 1.

Yes, an E1004 is a PSP Street, so it will brick with Infinity v1.0; it does not support 6.31.

I will update this tutorial soon to 2.0 Infinity.

This firmware is garbage i'm so sad for people falling for this.
It manages to crash redump verified games and official PSN eboots.
I'm not talking of 1 isolated case, every day someone comes in blaming games and they are all in this infinity firmware.
It's like a virus.
GBATemp should ban this thing into oblivion for all the damage is making to PSP users.

Nico, I take your answer to ask, what do you think is the best way to unlock a PSP with OF 6.61?
Your website is excellent.

Can you give specifics? Is it v1.0 or v2.0 Infinity? What is their accompanying CFW, ME or PRO? Are all Redumps not working, or are there specific ones?

My assumption is that they're using PRO-C2, as that CFW has known issues similar to what you're describing.

Use CIPL flasher (Custom IPL flasher) if your motherboard supports it.

Mostly for big purchases, I want it in my hands before I pay. Like a tv, I trust picking it up myself, before I'd trust it being sent thru mail/delivery. (Broken screen, etc) But yea if I can order online, then pickup at store is ok, but not all places offer that.

Thing is, if you break it driving back to your house, it's your fault. But if the delivery driver damages it, it's not your fault.
