Get an EZFlash 3-in-1.
It goes in your slot-2. You put GBA roms (and a loader program) onto your R4, and it allows you to play them.
It's about $20 from dealextreme and works a treat.

At the same price, an EZIV would be your cart.
If you wanna go cheap get a 3 in 1.
If you want to spend extra get an M3 perfect.

@Xcalibur -
Just NO. M3 Real has some shitty compatibility as of recent, he'd be better off with an R4 and a GBA cart. Srsly.

So which SLOT2 do i buy that uses sd + R4 (to load slot2)
and can play gba roms
They already answered that . . . the EZ 3 in 1 or the M3 Lite Perfect.

Don't forget the EZIV. Cheap and has perfect GBA compatibility.
I have one of these myself and I love it.

EDIT: Just read that you wanted SD cards.
You're only option is the M3 Perfect SD but thats really expensive. You should get a 3 in 1.
You could either get the lite version off DX or you could get the gba sized 3 in 1 from bamboogaming/realhotstuff depending on which DS you have.

True, the EZ-Flash doesn't have prefect compatibility, but you should know you're definitely not helping the situation if you use the reset patch. Why would you want to use that anyway? All you need to do is cycle the power, wait 'till it saves and shut the system off. For me, I can tell it's a quality cart because it can run F-Zero - Climax.

What compatibility are you talking about? I played over 30 GBA games with no problem whatsoever, not even with saves..And the games I've played were all 8-32 MB in size (mostly RPGs or tactical games), so I really don't know what are you talking about..For slot 1 carts with expansions, M3 Real is said to be best option..
But EZ 3-in-1 is a great option too, won't go wrong with either..
Offcourse, if you have mony go with M3 Perfect and 2 GB microSD, that is option that will last you few years if you load it full with GBA games.
