For Pokemon Omega Ruby you need 4001 steps each day for a faster reload of the O-Powers.

Is there a homebrew to manipulate the steps of the 3DS Pedometer / 3DS Step Counter?

Yes it does, but I am not looking for a counter, I am looking a homebrew, that manipulates the counter. :)

You have to shake your 3DS half an hour for that, each day. O.o

Can anyone tell me, how I can edit the extdata?
And how can I find the information of the step counter?

I do not take my 3DS with me, when I go outside...

And now please, back to the topic!
unfortunately, we actually cant edit steps.

going by posts in the playcoin setter thread, the system resists step counter edits. the actual pedometer seems to hard overwrite the dispayed number of steps, making it impossible to edit it with software or hacks.

you'll have to make do with carrying it around in your backpack till you get home

<snip>

And couldn't always just hack the game itself instead of the steps? I think that would be a lot easier.

I know for sure you can "edit" the counter and it has something to do with the activity log.
- Boot your 3DS, walk 100 steps.
- Open system settings, change date to yesterday. Do not exit system settings yet. Change date back to today. Now you can exit.
- On home menu you will see you now have 0 step.

And this is not a simple reset this if you walk 500 steps, reboot your console, then do the same trick, you will end up with 500 steps in your counter.
What I think we can deduce is that the podometer is set to activity log count for today at boot. And that value is flushed to the activity log at shutdown time. Yet it looks like Nintendo forgot to flush when you change date (that seems fair, system will reboot when exiting system settings so the counter will be set to the new date at boot time) but sets the counter to the current day count. This still works in 11.0.

Yesterday I tried to edit the step count.

I extracted the gamecoin.dat with play coin setter, edited the steps on 0x8 and 0xC (added 1000 steps in hex to both counters) and injected the gamecoin.dat with play coin setter.
https://3dbrew.org/wiki/Extdata#Shared_Extdata_0xf000000b_gamecoin.dat

But the step counter showed the same as before. :(

@Goombi:
Do you have any idea, how it could be possible to edit the step counter correctly?

Since Savedatafiler and Dev Menu got leaked for use on a 9.2 3Ds there might be a chanche that you can find it somewhere on the internet.
I personally never seen it but i also never searched for it.

Yeah, it is possible to use Pedometer Changer on retail units too.
Menu:

Now I have 1000 steps:

It requires properly created CSV file.
I can share retail encrypted cia and instuction somewhere else, if you want.

I am a little confused by the reason to this? Do you just want to fake steps or do you want to get fake coins? Because there are homebrews out there that can give you fake coins without messing with the steps.

I think is something to do with a pokemon game requireing steps in the pedometer to do special things, not really about the coins. :unsure:
