Hacking Looking to get an R4. Anything I should know?

I'm looking at getting an R4 for a DS Lite as a Xmas present for someone. I use a CycloDS on mine, but I saw that the R4s are so much cheaper. Is there any I should know before purchasing one? I saw that the R4 can't do the Wii-DS connectivity, but that's not a problem since the person I'm giving it too doesn't have a Wii. Anything else it can't do? Is it reliable?

Do not buy R4, because they are no longer produced or supported!
Newer games don't work on R4 anymore, and you can't find any more legit R4's, but only clones..

There are cheaper solutions like DSTT and AceKard2!!

Yes, get whoever you are getting it for a DSTT, I have one, and it's great. My card only got corrupted once from it, but it never happened again.

Getting an R4 at this point will mark you as a complete retard. Buy an R4, and you'll regret it in 30 minutes.

If you get the acekard, you may want to make sure you get the acekard 2.1. Not the acekard 2. Deal extreme is generally a decent place to order from. It sells a few items that aren't what they should be, but overall the low prices at dealextreme are well worth it.

Here is the link for the acekard 2.1 from deal extreme. If you look closely you will see that it has a 2.1 marked on the front of the card. The acekard 2.1 is basically a bug fixed version of the acekard 2.

the 2.1s have a new circuit board that is an improvement over the old 2.0 versions. the old versions tended to randomly die for no reason and stop working permanently. make sure u get a new 2.1 version to make sure you don't get that problem.

To everyone that replied in this, thank you very much! One last question. In that link for the 2.1 on Deal Extreme. If I order that do I have everything I need? Do I need to get a MicroSD card (like the CycloDS) or anything like that?

The acekard shown in the deal extreme link does not come bundled with a microsd card. You will have to buy the microsd card separately if you get this acekard. You won't need anything else with this acekard. You might want to try for a class 6preferably) or class 4 microsdhc card. The best brands are transcend, adata, sandisk, kingstonjapan).
